What about the alternative to a g'house? A good polytunnel will do loads for you maybe not as much as a heated g'house but capable of proyecting tomatoes, cucumbers, melons and most veg plus many other non food plants. I had a 20` tunnel and managed perfectly well with all those plus fuchsias and coleus and much more besides. They will give protection from 4 degrees of frost plus more if fleece is also used. Good protection for you too as you can be out there in all weathers. Well worth considering IMHO

When I still lived on my parent's farm, we used to get greenhouses from Screwfix, but looking at the prices on the website they seem a lot more expensive than I remember from about 5years ago - yowch. They were always pretty solid and good quality etc though. I think a Polytunnel would be great if you have room for one, can grow fancy fruit and all in there... I have also been looking out for a greenhouse, but a mini one www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/1384426.htm Will probably go with this, it's supposed to be awful to construct but decent (for a cheap one) when put together.

OK getting nervous now I have found a way to fund this new greenhouse .I rang "greenhouses direct" on Saturday with loads of questions and to confirm the price ( I really couldn`t believe the price compared to other greenhouses ) It will be the rhino harvest 8 X 14 aluminum with six vents, all with auto openers , plus two louvers , 4mm safety glass with bar capping ( no W clips )base and anchors included with low threshold double doors. bracing to every joint , guttering and downpipes included as well as two full length hanging basket rails.the whole package is £1449. The only thing not included is the postage to NI . I am expecting a call from "Ian" tomorrow with that price , there is a guy over here, that they use ,who will have to drive all the way to their factory and bring it over , i wonder what that will cost

If that is the Mildenhall address, not too far from here, a friend bought a cheap greenhouse from there and liked it so well that when she moved, they bought another just the same from the same place. The second move involved carriage costs.
Your greenhouse sounds wonderful. You will have years of pleasure now.

Yes that is the one at Mildenhall - Norfolk Greenhouses was rec'd to me by someone on here a few months back we're just buying it from Argos as we have a store relatively handy. I am very jealous of the 'proper' big greenhouse ladybird is getting - but it would fill my entire garden/patio area I think! It sounds great Are you putting it up yourself?

I might not be putting anything up Bess :i see my GH has just had a few "missiles", probably stones, that left two holes in the roof , not a Hugh problem for polycarbonate but deadly for glass . I might have to rethink this . also delivery is £230 and probably more to get help putting it up as I don`t think I can manage. £300 for replacement polycarbonate is beginning to look more appealing. I do hope you get enjoyment from your GH bess. My first one was just a wooden frame covered by a clear plastic shower curtain

I am sure I will it's a step up from the little clear plastic 'greenhouses' I've been using, actually, they keep falling to bits so fast they're not worth it. The last plastic cover only lasted 2months! 'Missiles' are the reason I haven't been looking at glass, we get too much chucked over our fence in town. It's really annoying isn't it
