Thanks Ladybird - I will definitely keep that in mind, I don't want to be scrubbing algy off the panels all spring. We did buy it and it's supposed to be delivered sometime in the next two weeks - fun

Hi Ladybird, did you ever get a new greenhouse of any sort? This is my little one I bought from Norfolk Greenhouses via Argos, it's great if anyone is looking for an itty-bitty one on a budget. Good to have somewhere dry, warm and solid! As the reviews said, the instruction manual was pretty hopeless, it was fiddly and needed extra screws, but it's really strong once together. (My husband only got one piece of metal in the wrong place - easily fixed - which I thought was pretty impressive, the showoff!) Hmm, I hope this photo works first time -

Lovely Bess, plenty of room inside there. I like that it is green as well, adds a little colour to the garden . I wish you well with it. No I didn`t go for a new GH after all, the postage from the mainland is just too much. I can reglaze this one for less than the postage of a new one ,so I`m going for that. ( thats not to say I`ve given up on the idea .

I hope you have it secured down some way bess ? strong winds could sent it rolling about the garden. I had paving slabs catching the metal lips on the base all around the perimiter of mine

Well, postage on the mainland is pretty horrible, so I imagine sending a greenhouse further afield would cost an arm and a leg!
It's secured pretty well thanks, I have slabs in the bottom but it's also weighted down with all the junk in there - a bag of sand included! I don't think it will be a problem as it's v closed in there, you can't see in the photo but there's another wall sheltering it. Even my little plastic greenhouse in the same place never blew away, so I think it's OK.

I started to replace the polycarb in the greenhouse yesterday .I have to remover all the silicone, what a job , and because I ordered the sheets slightly bigger I have to recut every pane of polycarb ( I cut through the kitchen line several time before I realized )but they are a better fit and the difference is amazing .I`m using a really good quality silicone, expensive but worth it I havn`t lost a sheet for several years . The sheets are quite flexible and broader than normal, I had originally run a taught firm wire accross the GH hut it didn`t stop it flexing in the wind , sometimes it sounds like rolf harris wobble board . so any new ideas of how to secure the sheets will be most welcome . I`d like to run something right down the middle of each pane , something cheap , firm , thinish, green/black,and that will last at least ten years so put your thinking caps on

I meant to say , I bought the polycarbonate for here www.polycarbdirect.co.uk/product_desc.php?id=19&color=clear the cheapest price I could find It is a Palram sunlite and offers 10 -15 years use so heres hoping . They say there is a 4-5 mm plus or minus when cutting the sheets so i added 5mm each way to each sheet and I`m glad i did . postage was £30 to here so I bought plenty .

Ladybird, just been reading your thread, and thought I'd let you know that I've just ordered the same greenhouse you were looking at from the greenhousepeople. The 8' x 12' stapleford mill package, such a good deal with auto openers and everything thrown in. Should get it in about 5 weeks, just have to sell my old greenhouse, which I fully refurbished last year. Probably put it on Ebay. Will post pictures when it's up

The Stapleford mill package, 8 x 12. It's very lovely, with all auto openers included and full sheet toughened glass, so you don't get the dirt and dust collecting in between the panes.

The only thing I had buy extra was two auto openers for the louvre vents, everything else was included with the price. The bar capping was an extras option, which I didn't take up, but their new window clips are so much easier to fit than the old W clips. The instructions were clear and concise, and construction was very easy, and no leaks. The best though, is the one sheet toughened glass, no Z clips, no gaps for dirt to settle in, and really easy to clean. I couldn't be more happier with my new greenhouse, if you got room for a large greenhouse, you won't go wrong with the 'Mill Package', Stapleford. I sold my old greenhouse on Ebay, I got £280.00 for it, so even happier .
