Today's 'THE DAY'. Let's hope the Scots see sense. Any thoughts, Rosie? Oh plenty of thoughts Geranium, I'm still a no and so is everyone I know. I will be voting later on once Graham is home.

I tend not to watch that I'm afraid, I used to like the Royal Tournament though Sadist Just so you could watch some poor matelot getting broken bones trying to lug an artillery piece over the obstacles Absolutely

Poor you. I just knew those kilt pins were dangerous. I`ve just never seen the point. People have tattoos on their back. Why? They can`t see it.

daitheplant one of my tats on the back of my hand has the name,'Lynda' and as you probably know my OH is called Maureen remember I was in her majesty's forces and it was a common practice then and indeed still is. An oppo of mine had a tattoo under his chin and on down his throat done the traditional way with pointed sticks by a native Dayak in Borneo. Very painful I heard. It was a tribal thing and many of the locals had tattoos and pierced noses with feathers in but i didn't fancy any of that

Well, lads and lassies, I've just checked on the results so far and it's 54% 'no'. Mr Salmond has gone off in a limo somewhere, looking white round the gills. Looks like good news for the UK!

It wasn't collective common sense which prevailed. In fact, I am disappointed that although the vote was for a resounding 'no', that so many Scots believed King Salmond and thought so little of the union. However, they are better off, and it would seem, we are too.

I kind of knew the no's would win, we were quietly confident, the yes voters were too vocal and aggressive. A good day for the UK

Great news, I'm glad we're still 'together' I just hope the BBC can leave the subject alone, but I've no doubt we'll get hours of analysis now

Exactly my thoughts too, let it rest, but everytime westminster bring something 'bad' for Scotland the referendum will be dragged up time and time again.

I have really never seen the point of them. It is great news that Scotland voted no. Now I think that Wales, Ireland and England should have a vote on whether or not Mr Salmond remains a part of the UK.

It's been difficult to know which way it would go the past week or so, but I'm glad the no's won. I was at a pre-season football match at the start of last month with 6,000 Rangers fans bouncing up and down waving Union Flags, signing the National Anthem, and anti independence songs. They had a huge banner that said "FOUR COUNTRIES ONE FLAG OUR UNITED KINGDOM." Long may it continue that's what I say, although it's clearly going to be a very different UK following today's result.

It wasn't really that surprising that Alex Salmond has now stepped down, It's all been a big smack around the chops for him. If he had told people what would happen with the military, education, nhs, police etc etc I think we would be independant now. He didn't have ANY answers to the most important questions. Thats true sweetpea, but I'm not sure I'll be home that day

I was delighted to watch the results as they same through - well done the 'nos'. Now let's get some fairness into the political life of the new UK!
