I would just like to see fairness across the UK - why is it that only English people have to pay prescription charges for a start? Time was Geranium that there was no such thing as prescription charges then it was brought in though I can't remember which government it was. devolution followed and that was one of the things the Welsh and Scottish governments decided would be a good vote catcher. The only time I got free prescriptions when living in England was when I turned 60 or was it 65? certainly after I retired. It can make a difference to your budget if you need prescriptions on a regular basis and I suspect that the reason it is not in England is to do with the cost.

I actually agree with you there Geranium, It's not really fair. As it happens I wouldn't pay for prescriptions anyways as I take thyroxine. But it should either be free for everyone or everyone pays.

All of us who have worked have paid NI contributions, so we should be entitled to free NHS treatment, which INCLUDES prescriptions. Geranium, the fault lies not with the Scots and Welsh, but with the English politicians.

Yes, I agree - another good reason for an English Assembly!

I can't think of anything with a bias of fairness in England. To go away to university cripples families with fees and loans leading to a lot of debt. Also NHS shouldn't be considered free because we are paying for it in advance with our National Health payments straight for our pay packets.

I see from that dai that Llanelli is privately run which explains the parking meters but then so is Withybush my local hospital and they don't charge. mind you, you are lucky to find a space so I generally walk down.

The two hospitals I had to attend for my tests and op etc, charged so much that my husband parked in a multi-storey and walked in. Absolutely outrageous! When he collected me and I was unable to walk more than a few steps, he was allowed to pick me up from the ambulance bay by special agreement.
