I split my two tubers today. This was very time consuming. It took hours. Anyway I have three pots of Garden Friends and a tray and a pot of Pudsey which turned out to be huge tubers. They are in the cold greenhouse and have been watered sparingly.

Went through the rest of the tubers from last year. I have to say I will store in vermiculite from now on. The ones in peat with some rot and mould . The ones in vermiculite clean firm and good. I also noticed the ones I stored and set up in vermiculite started quicker. Split Lolo a small dark foliage single will start it off on sunday and grow from the split tuber. Found a kenora Valentine pot tuber so it's going on the heat tonight. The others I will also start off this weekend or give to a good home. Binned three white perfection , harteenas and a fim that was unidentified. Dug another wheelbarrow of rubble out of main dahlia bed and forked in more manure and peat . Cuttings still looking fine. No black and looking perky ste b and scrumpy . Going to take some more tonight. Ryecroft zoe, hillcrest candy and peach delight and Hapet daydream and pearl . Trays ready pellets soaked this morning for 30mins and left to drain the rest of the day Been in propagator all day to warm up.

took another 13 cuttings tonight including my first two hillcrest candys and 3 peach delight plus my second zoe. None for a few days now . Next is winholm Diane. Some I will have to pinch out growing tip coming through very thick. So will take cuttings from the side shoots.
Still nothing on one of the Weston pirate . The other two shooting nicely as are Mary's jomanda and senzoe Ursula.
No damping off yet. Fingers crossed.

I wonder if it could be to warm in the airing cupboard. Alas not so Tel. The Winholmes are in the propagators on 20 degree heat. steb advised me to put the Oakwood Goldcrests in the airing cupboard as they are notorious late developers, so I took his advice.

diggie be careful of that heat. Once they sprout turn it down. What is the soil temp ? Good luck with the goldcrest part of the reason I did not try it. One of my pirate pot tubers nothing. The other two ok. Winholme Diane with lots of shoots. Might take some cuttings tomorrow. if I have some spare you want some ? That is if I can root them ! Eek ! I had one little bit of black on a leaf of Hapet pearl today . I cut it off the only sign of damping off as yet. Vents open heat at 16degrees at soil level. All looking perky.

Took my first winholm Diane and senzoe Ursula cuttings tonight. I also sadly binned another Clearview Debby and a hillcrest candy. The growing tips turning black. These all from the first batch before the grow light went on. Temp reduced further to 15degrees. Will watch the misting. Vents open. Another Growlight going over the cuttings tomorrow. The good thing is zoe looks ok. Only two so far as the next one's very thick. Have stopped it so hopefully shoots from leaf axis. Lots of Diane and Mary's and Weston pirate later this week and 14 potential candy coming.
If I loose any more to damping off changing to sand.

If not I may take you up on the offer.

I had heard that winholm Diane can shoot from the stem. This pot tuber has gone nuts though. Have taken two off it already and they are lovely cuttings. Some of the others ugly lower leaves and very thick. Have stopped them see what the side shoots give. I had rigged up the growlight over the cuttings in a fashion not exactly professional but it works Almost. Two of the 4 lights won't come on all at once. Need to make a complaint to Amazon. I think might be a good thing though don't want to cook the cuttings. Just green them up. Here is the winholm Diane shooting from the stem. Notice the thick deformed ugly leaves on the Diane behind it. The new leaves opening up much better. That one will be stopped once it grows a little taller . Mignon sunshine very similar to moonfire in front of it. One of my favourite dark leaf singles.

Tubers looking good there Raymond , your cuttings doing well think you've cracked it mate. Hi Steve cuttings looking bad Limp flagging and pale. Lost another last night taking it to 5. Those pellets holding way to much water I also find you cannot get the cutting in deep enough. Emergency treatment starting tonight. Moving the cuttings into potting compost perlite mixture . Will also try Jack gotts method. Getting the sand on Thursday. the tubers looking great just wish the cuttings where the same. I will sort it I need to or disaster around the corner.
