Collerettes seem to be a class without a clear 'banker' variety, moonlight. At the four shows I exhibited at last year there were four different varieties that won the collerette class. These were: Pooh, Ann Breckenfelder, Hillcrest Regal and a new seedling in yellow.

These were: Pooh, Ann Breckenfelder, Hillcrest Regal and a new seedling in yellow. This is what I'm finding frustrating. This year I want to grow 2 collerette, I'd like to be able to enter a x3 collerette class at show but also like to pick something that has erm classical collerette features, so that when I collect the seeds, there will be a higher chance of having a collerette that has the right features.
Then I read about Evolution of the Collerette....
At which point it felt like a good time to stop and close the laptop.
I quite like the pointy Elizabeth Snowden and Fashion Monger but are pointy ones ok to be in with a good chance at exhibiting? Thought about Pooh, or Grand Duc. I like the red in centre of Teesbrooke Red Eye and I quite like Teesbrooke Audrey but I don't know. Came to a grinding hault. Hence the post.

Not received the winter bulletin yet with the results for 2014 in yet. Inside information though, Harrogate 2014 Garden Friends 1 win 1 second. No to far for me is Wisley plus I will not be growing enough plants this year.

Moonlight if it helps John Carter at my society a collerette specialist grows the following Clair De lune pink pat and perc Treesbrook redeye He is bringing back Anne breckenfelder. He has won the national for collarettes and also is a judge. Lovely lovely man. I grew pooh last year it was lovely and very vigorous. For showing it think will be hard to match a vase. Clair De lune I like very much as well as garden friends. Here is a picture for my society show of Claire De lune

I am thinking of attending harrogate this year . Will def be going to wisley to view.
Checked the tubers today all looking pretty good. Only 2 going in the bin sadly one I really wanted called Stillwater brilliant for my display . My own grown one's so far have overwintered ok. A touch of shrivel on the skinny one's have given a light mist. Setting up week after next. Waiting on heat mat to arrive. Been reading complete dahlia guide by Philip damp . Good book. There was a supplement inside it from a magazine the varieties very different . Will post a picture. Looks like from the late 80s. Some look great.
