Cat how old is your son ? There is a girl that shows in Kent called Ella she is 14 she won fimbriated class and collerette then went on to win at wisley. The youngsters are the future. Hope he stays keen and interested. Raymond my youngest is 6 and he has always loved pottering helping me. He doesn't know yet but I hope to afford a couple of dahlias just for him to go in a raised bed (4' by 4'). I have the bed already and it has been covered over winter so weed free and ready to go. It is in a good sunny position too.

Cat I don't think he will be disappointed when they come into flower. Once they start flowering they will flower for months. He will be able to brag to his friends, he is the only boy in Cornwall, to have this variety of dahlia. Tel you better believe it! He is really looking forward to this season thanks to you,Thank you so much for your kindness

Tel you better believe it! He is really looking forward to this season thanks to you,Thank you so much for your kindness Tel is a great enabler..... Lou78W Thanks Tel really is, his kindness has taken Che to a new level in his enthusiasm towards gardeningl. Che did his school project on " our living garden" last year and helped to build our first wooden compost bin and a 2' x 1' insect house, even going for walks to find leaves for leaf mould. We rarely buy plants other than at car boots because it is low on our list of expenses right now but we have saved for our first greenhouse and he and I are excited to grow from seed this season. Che has his own "James grieve" apple tree we bought him a season ago for Christmas and loves picking blackberries (although doesn't eat them!). He has 2 terracotta pots of his own that he plants up himself choosing his own bits from what we have or can separate. He loves putting down the wood chip amongst our stock but his favourite is turning the compost
