Thank you Lou, our tubers are set down and sprouting little green shoots - we like little green shoots! We just hope that we are planning the right cultivars for our cut flower market this year. Florists and brides change their minds one year to the next and when one begins the growing process months before they want them there is a bit of guessing involved! Fingers crossed they like what you have on offer. Do the florists not request certain colours for the next season? Sadly not early enough! Last season was "Moroccan" shades, suited us fine as oranges, burgundies, reds and so forth. However, in 2014 we reduced the whites and creams from 2013 only to find they were in great demand. Brides love Cafe au Lait, we just can't grow enough of it, especially to flower in volume in early July! (Note to self: must try harder)

richardr I work in the fashion industry and from what I hear pastels making a big comeback lilacs, soft pinks, peach etc... Do you ever go to any of the big bridal shows ? Might be worth it. Cafe au lait is very bridal. Also anything on the soft cream nude tones always does well in fashion in the UK. I deal with lots of brides and it is a huge headache. Sorry ladies !

Pastels were good last season as well Raymond. Apricot Desire, Marissa, Peach Delight, Carolina Wagermans, Bracken Ballerina, Cafe au Lait, Shiloh Noelle, Wizard of Oz and the "hot" pinks, Dunaj, Onesta, Perle von Potzleinsdorf. The challenge we have is predicting the colours for 2015 summer weddings. Would love to be a fly on the wall at the Pantone planning meetings! We do not do any bouquets or anything so supply direct to florists who do or brides that do their own. I hear from florists that many believe the benefit of Bridal Shows is mainly to the organisers of the shows and not the trade stands; they do not get much business from them. So, not really our thing.

You have made a good start talking to Halls.........Its difficult to know how many varieties to choose....best to start small and build up your stock over the years. The guys on here are the best they are.....so don't hesitate to ask questions.....we all have to start somewhere. I love the idea of narrow boats.....we cruised on the Norfolk Broads for many years and loved it......We go cruising on the "big boys" now we are in our dotage.....lol

My first tubers boxed up today - 'Lakeland Polly' (pompon). Poms are always the first one's I start so I get earlier cuttings and a bigger plant with plenty of flowers.
