Just dug up my Clearview Audrey. tuber looks fine but for a plant with such a thick tree trunk of a stem it has a tiny tuber. Dad's not been well the last few days but hoping that he can find his.
Had a bit of a go at digging up my tree stump. Don't know how my Dad has managed the ones he has done gave up for now. I have some stuff to brush on the stump but I am worried that it will harm the surrounding soil and hurt the dahlias that I am going to grow there.

You can tell Pirate YES.! Esther has been on a gardening television programme; her garden has won first prize in Woking in Bloom (for several years now) and she writes articles in a Gardening Magazine......I would call that "famous". Hello Moonlight . I am not famous - I do love my greenhouses though! I don't find watering a chore and enjoy it so I don't have any watering systems in place - sorry to be boring esther you are too modest, you have been well and truly rumbled by Lou78W. Credit where credit is due, if you inspire my girls to do a bit more in the greenhouse or garden itself I think you are great.
You wait till I tell Pirate. She and Fairy will both agree with Lou78W and I - yes your fame has spread beyond Garden Friends. Nothing wrong with a bit of fame and modesty - fame and conceit now that's another thing.
Thank You - I think it is time I got my finger and tackled the den of weeds and old tomato plants. Even with all the spiders.
p.s. Thank You Lou!
No problem!. esther is indeed VERY modest and I don't apologise for "spilling the beans"....she is an example to us all..

All this talk of being famous is a bit embarrassing :- Moonlight - I think it is wonderful that you are so encouraging with your little girls to get them gardening

It is amazing how some small tubers produce these massive plants !
If you are using sbk for example on your plot you need at least six weeks clear before you can plant.

Phew! Just spent last hour or so catching up with your blog ML. One point I would like to make - you reckon on not being an 'Expert' well that may have been true once upon a time but you are now very knowledgeable and learning even more. Well done Janey. Ps several years back we used to have a quiz on here and Esther was the one to beat and there are a good few knowledgeable people on here. Her specialty is Poinsettias but don't tell her I told you

Difficult time right now. Dad's been round and he doesn't look very well at all. I know that my Mum is very poorly and my Sister seems even worse. Work is very upsetting because there is being a restructuring. Today 10 people find out which of them will be the 3 that will be keeping their jobs. Some people have been there as long as 24 years. It's awful. People that we all care about, care about each other are trying so hard to keep it together but are crying.
Logically I know that there are members here who are having to live through worse but right here right now I will be honest and say I am finding it difficult to keep chirpy here when my heart is elsewhere. I wish I could do more for those that I love and care about but I can't. I don't really know what to do, just feeling like curling up in a ball and cry but then that won't change things.
I am really worried about my family and I am worried about friends at work, Especially 1 whom I worked closely with for 7 years (we only stopped when I went on Maternity leave) and has been at working there for 24 years.
I'll do my best to update and share my news but if I don't sound as chirpy as normal then wanted to explain why and trust me I am not moping. I know that technically these are known as Gardening Blogs but I've always thought of and used as a Diary.
Moonlight p.s. I do have news to share. p.p.s. Light hearted banter and general leg pulling is if anything encouraged here - think we all could do with a bit of light relief.

Keep posting whether you're chirpy or not Moonlight , sometimes it helps to take your mind off what's worrying you elsewhere & there are always people willing to try to cheer you up - see post above!

Sometimes life can suck moonlight And when it's out of your control it gets to you my brother was recently made redundant and is has thrown him bigtime. The only thing you can do is show support . It shows you have a big heart and care and that is important.
You have a two beautiful daughters a husband that loves you. Your dad , mum and sister love you and lots of friends on here and personally that only want the best for you.
Just keep an eye on your mum and dad. Maybe all the digging has tired your dad. He just needs to pace himself a little.
Just so you know I am a father . My dahlias are giving birth ! Was a very quick and painless Labour ! Hehehe
I think you need to get you wellies on and dig that stump out. Take your frustations out on the stump massacre it, destroy it ! You will have a dahlia in that spot.
Keep your chin up.
All the best
