I enjoyed my time that I spent with my Dad today, I think I could have stayed longer but I needed to make sure that I had bought a copy of our local newspaper (- Pirate and Fairy are in it from the show) and he wanted to buy some horse feed and our house is on route.
Done a bit of digging and I've rung and told my Dad about the tubers, so I'm expecting him to come round sometime tomorrow.
I'm expecting a parcel tomorrow before 1pm and my Station House order is due for delivery this week + I've got an order on it's way from Thompson and Morgan - fuchsias. So no digging until the afternoon. On a slightly frustrating note I have to take girls to a clay workshop tomorrow - starts at 10. So I am going to be marching them there and then dashing back. It is just up the road from us here so it shouldn't take long to get back - just have to hope that Sod's Law doesn't kick in.
Dad talked me through a progress report on the tubers and cuttings. I'll be honest and say that I didn't write down all that I should have or taken as many photos as I would have liked. Made a list of what I wanted to grow and he went through basically went through all the yes / no and which were the ?. Followed by a tuber hunt for the gaps in the list.
He gave me a Winkie Lambrisco tuber and I said why didn't he want it? Not that impressed, ok so why did you give it to me - because I like poms and it is red. OK. Looked it up on Station House: Oh ok, I'll give it a whirl. Speaking of whirl, I gave Tisa a go last year, liked the colour didn't really know if I wanted to keep it in the hope that it might cross with something because the actual form of the bloom isn't as good as the other poms that I've been growing. I am sure that I bought it from Halls last year but they are not selling it. Maybe they either didn't think it was good enough or other buyers didn't think it was good enough or there was a problem with the stock (which I doubt very much), my hunch would be that it wasn't good enough to be considered a true pom classification, so they dropped it. I don't know.
Never really saw myself as a pom woman but I have been lucky a couple of times in the shows. Think Dad might only be growing Lismore Moonlight and maybe 1 other but he has ordered in a couple more large poms to try and will be growing Nuland's Josephine again. The irony of growing them in our main show there is no large pom class - they get dumped in the anything else class.

Speaking of Poms - I saw the Pom Man at the show on Sunday. I Love him to bits, I still cannot believe how wrong I was about him. He has been really ill and gave up his allotment and his dahlias everything but then his condition had improved some he wanted to get his allotment back again but it was too late. Very much like my Dad, dahlias are his life, stop growing them and then it is like something inside dies. The good news is that one of the other allotment holders has agreed to share his so that the Pom Man can grow his dahlias again. That man may be a life saver.
Pom Man said that he was looking forward to beating me at the show... Now that's the spirit of the man that I've grown to love and respect.
Bless him, he had my girls 'helping' him at the show. As I said, anyone that is good to my girls - I think is great. He is a bit like an adopted Great Uncle to them or vice versa. He has a way of listening to them that makes them feel important inside.
Respect and Love where it is due... even if you do beat me.

Knock! Knock! Knock! Knock! Open door to reveal my Postman (well not specifically mine - I do share him with my neighbours!) and he is giving me a very strange look. He shows me my Parcel and then tries (and fails) to keep a straight face as he reads the label out loud. Me, well I struggle to find the words to explain whilst maintaining my dignity.
Great Fun! he he he

As I've said before, I am Very Happy and Very Lucky to have such wonderful Garden Friends.
Thank You so much .
Dad will be round here asap but he has got to help move the hay. I've asked if he could bring me some more compost. I've been collecting pots and washing them as I needed bigger ones. All the plants are standing upright and mine are ready to be tucked up in their new beds...
n.b. I wrote this post about 2 hours ago - I didn't finish posting it as I realised that I was late collecting the girls.

Something happened I didn't get my previous post posted straight away, so am going to try really hard to start, finish and post a whole one in one go.
So I'm out with my wellies on my trusty fork in my hand and I want to dig up a tuber but then a spot a seed head. Of course, what do I do I pick the seed head and look inside, lots of seeds. Then I spot a tiny spider on my hand, so of course being the logical sensible person that I am I gently brush it off.
Nope obviously being a special kind of stupid... I blew it off... Along with most of the seeds....
d'oh moment. What a derr brain I am today, too much excitement. I don't know if I want to be out digging when Dad arrives or hovering with my plants like an expectant Father in the waiting room.
hmmmm
Better go dig.

I think today I have earn t the title of 'Special Kind of Stupid'. Only I could type her address out and then PUT HER PARENTS Postcode at the bottom.
My only defence is that the contents of the parcel were not just for me - some for me Dad but either way I am lucky that the postal service actually got it delivered here.
