Didn't they do well!!. ...my nerves are shattered though. ..with all the prep work and leaving stuff behind. . I'm not surprised not many little ones didn't do the pom poms....a bit tricky for little fingers, but all credit to them (with Mum to help) A big hug and Happy Birthday to Pirate.....have a lovely day xx

Yes they did do well. Before I forget Happy birthday to you happy birthday to you happy birthday dear Pirate happy birthday to you.
Moonlight are you sure all the pompon blooms pass through the ring, if it was that easy to make the poms rather than grow them Hehe
Hope Pirate has a great day.

As you know, I try and keep my Geographical specifics vague but the place where we were going to go as a Birthday treat was packed, traffic blocking the road. We decided that it really wasn't worth waiting and decided to drive on. Glad we did because where we went the girls loved. We followed an Easter hunt and the girls kept asking when we can come back.
Thinking of cashing in Nector Points - to pay for years membership.
Dinner we went out for a meal and then back home to open more presents with Nanny, Grandad & My Sister, followed by Blowing the Candles on the Birthday cake and then B... E... D...

It is going to be a busy day for us Moonlight Ladies tomorrow. The girls had an Easter treat and invitation to go shopping with Nanny and my Sister. Me, well I'm not invited. It's their treat. So I had my own mini brainwave. The girls can go shopping with my Mum and Sister... so I thought that I can spend some time with my Dad and the dahlias. I want to learn more and I want to check where things are by variety.
Somethings are ok but others are running very late because he wasn't well.
The most disappointing part is Moonlight. I won't be able to grow one this year. Dad hasn't got enough for himself this year. I hope that my tuber from last year grows.

Well this is the plan that was... 2015 Local Dahlia classes: miniature semi/cactus (x3 Class 87) Weston Pirate, Weston Spanish Dancer, Weston Stardust, Weston Corsair, Weston Buccaneer, Weston Sunup, Majestic Athalie + Fred Fire small semi/cactus (x1 Class 90) (x3 Class 88) Oakwood Goldcrest, Ryecroft Zoe, Ruskin Myra & Clearview Audrey + Fred Flump medium semi / cactus (x1 Class 91) (x3 Class 89) Eastwood Moonlight, Peach Delight, Hillcrest Candy, Eastwood Star (+ Clearview Jenny & Candy Jayne) large or giant semi/cactus (x1 Class 92) Trooper Dan Currently... Mini semi/cactus: Don't know how the Weston's at my Dad's are going but I've ordered a Buccaneer and a Tom McClelland. Decided against ordering Majestic Athalie from ndc - not been reliable source in the last 2 or 3 years which is a shame because I wanted to order Eastwood Star but that arrived as another Eastwood Moonlight from there. Oh well. Small semi/cactus: Don't know how the tubers and cuttings at Dad's are doing except that the Greenways Zoe has rooted cuttings. My Clearview Audrey tuber is currently at the stage where I look at it so long that I start imagining that it has eyes Dad finally found a tuber that looks alive but I was rather hoping to grow it again myself - so who knows? Medium semi/cactus: The plan had been to grow Hillcrest Candy this year but it isn't playing ball for Dad so who knows. No good news yet for Eastwood Moonlight but Peach Delight is getting there. Jenny and Candy Jayne, I don't know. Hopefully we will get another Medium semi/cactus. Large or giant semi/cactus: Trooper Dan is growing but also running later than my Dad would have wanted. I think that this is pretty much my Rogues Gallery of varieties planned but not planned positions. My Weston Stardust wasn't a patch on the ones that I had seen in the shows the years before + I have my 2 rogue dahlias from the US Candy Jayne and C.V. Jenny to put somewhere. p.s. I wish that I had a better photo of Buccaneer but it is all I've got. Mental Note for 2morrow: Yay or Nay...

Moonlight, I thought your work with Pirate and Fairy with the Easter Handicrafts was absolutely wonderful.
To Pirate and Fairy: I thought your Cards where GREAT - and so where the Hats/Bonnets, and I LOVED the baskets. I also really liked your "pom-flowerpots" (but then, being a roofgardener, I'm into flowerpots anyway), and well done on winning prizes as well !!!
A belated Happy Birthday to Pirate !
And a big "Well Done" to all !

erm... I think the reason why Dad couldn't find my Jomanda is because I erm... hadn't dug it up and erm given it to him...
Going on a hut the tuber search... next stop Moonlight, if mine is ok I've a chance of growing it. If I don't well Dad hasn't got enough for himself, so he can't help me.
