and Lou78W of course you are. ha..ha.....well I was on this occasion. Our little adults take their efforts at art...VERY SERIOUSLY...isn't that right Pirate?..

Bit of a strange day, the last day of the girls school holiday. Told everyone that they don't have to get up early, we didn't have to go out any where and hadn't made any plans.
When I woke up, I was told by Pirate that Daddy was down the garden.
He had got up early so that he could tackle the greenhouse and had even relocated 2 frogs and put some weed suppressant fabric down and a couple of bags of bark clippings. He got up early because we have a fence panel down, I tried to help HH put it back in a couple of days ago and it was a case of 1 side went in the slit and the other didn't. I panicked and started having a massive panic attack because I was worried that the fence panel would flip backwards into their garden.
Not nice for the girls to see me panic like that. Anyway just hope that my Dad can help HH put the panel back because I can't do it.
Anyway trying to keep a low key with the neighbours. So HH got up early before they did. It's been a bright but very windy day today and our neighbour have been out in the garden....
Now tomorrow I'm hoping that all is back to routine and that I can move my plants back into the greenhouse and my house will be free of tubers and plants - without the fear of being had a go at for a missing fence panel.
So it's for tomorrow.

So we celebrated their last day of holiday freedom with a trip to a playcentre...
and the girls did a bit of climbing. Strange day without as much gardening as I need to get done but a 2nd day of HH being n.b. He wishes he had done a before and after photo that I could share. Maybe next time.
I am a very lucky woman, I have my family and my friends.
Night All! p.s. I've ordered some SB Plant Invigorator tonight.

In addition to my local town show there are another 3 dahlia shows that I hope to exhibit in. An early mini, a biggie and a late mini. The 2 mini shows are vases of 3 or single blooms of each classification. Exceptions to this that affect me are that there are no specific large pom or anemone class, 'Any other' class and a single bloom seedling class. Nice thing about the mini classes you can have as many entries as you like. The biggie it is only 1 entry per class and my local it's 2 entries max. The classes I would like to go for in the biggie are classes based on Size rather than type classification and most of which are vases of 3. x3 pom / x3 collarette / x3 miniature / x3 small / x3 medium - Classes x3 Giant or Large Class + a single bloom of Giant or Large Class The Big Class for me is: 2 vases of 3 Blooms of 2 Separate classifications (Large and Giant can be stage in single vases). There is a Seedling class but it is another x3 class There are also single bloom challenges for each classification (again except anemone and large pom).
Don't know why they can't have anemone and large pom classes. If my Dad and I entered large poms and Dad entered anemone last year, I don't see why they can't introduce them to the show. Every now and again you will see a class with no entries, so it wouldn't hurt to introduce these new categories.
n.b. Not a moan just an observation. I think that 3 large or giant might be pushing it for me (I had 2 good ones last year and so very close to a third) but I will be disappointed if I can't have entries into collarette and waterlilly classes after plants from and .

Wow Moonlight those climbing walls look great & the girls are so brave to go that high! We went to watch part of the World indoor climbing championships years ago & it was nailbiting to watch, never tried a climbing wall myself but have scrambled up a few mountains (many years ago! ) like Helvellyn where you have to shimmy down a 'chimney' & crawl some of it on hands & knees! Your girls look like naturals, very agile & athletic, they are multi-talented aren't they!

Your girls look like naturals, very agile & athletic, they are multi-talented aren't they! Major respect SueA I could never do anything like that. I am scared of heights. I think that I got it from my Mum and that she got it from her Mum. Seeing someone cry because they are terrified of heights but are in a car is not good. We went on holiday to Ynyslas and stayed at a caravan site which is just down the road to Borth. We used to go on the steam engines and one of the places we went to was Devil's Bridge, spotting a car at the bottom of a sheer drop didn't help. I hope that one day we can go on holiday there one day and take the girls to experience their own memories.
A couple of years ago we took them to Caerleon to see the Amphitheatre and I was happy to stand on the banks with the girls (other families were having picnics etc.) but HH hated it because it was too high and steep for him. Found this clip when Fairy was doing a topic about Romans at school, which really gives a feel for the amphitheatre. Anyway after he said that I was scared. Interestingly he'd be quite happy to walk across Bristol Suspension Bridge. That something that I'll never be able to do.
I try so very hard not to transfer my fears on them (and bluff my way through my weaknesses, which they will realise but I am not going to tell them or talk about until they do. e.g. spelling ). It's like drawing, someone told my Mum that she couldn't draw, hence she believes it. I'll never do that or at least I will try my hardest never to do so.
They both are good swimmers Fairy achieved 1,500 Metre swimming badge and Pirate her 50 Metre. They both do Martial Arts, ballet, tap, modern, jazz and street dance. So they are fit and I think that one of the reasons they loved going to the gardens was the fact that there was a lot of open space where they could just run. We've been on holiday and stayed at a family farm and they love the fact that they have the freedom to just go out, walk and ride their bikes around the farm. They get the same sort of thing at Mum n Dad's because there is the field at the back where the horses are, so are not limited by the space of our garden or neighbours close to our house. Not complaining about where we live, for me as someone who is not able to drive, it's on a direct bus room into town and on route to my Mum and Dad's. Near but not too near... I believe that they have the best of both worlds and swimming is about 7 minutes walk away and dancing used to be the same.

Pleased to report back that the dahlias, fuchsias and girls potatoes survived their 1st night in my unheated greenhouse (with door and window closed), I put the attractive blue mulch down before wishing them goodnight. and the girls have watered their potatoes today and yesterday. So doing good and best of all I am gradually getting my lounge back.

Taken all the potted ones up over to the allotment, any more frost they will be covered with a couple of layers of fleece and take their chance now.

You're doing a great job Moonlight , you've got 2 fearless, bright little girls there! P.S. I'm not keen on heights myself even though I have been up a few (small!) mountains, I finished Helvellyn on hands & knees & Snowdon clinging to rock face edging along path & O.H. is scared of heights too & not keen on driving over high bridges!

Feeling a bit stressed. Rang my Dad and talked to him, update on the tubers etc. Then I said only got 2 more to go and the US is on it's way and the Station House should be this week... Only told there is 3 to come. Did a search through my emails nope. Looked at their web page and after a bit of thought, I've worked out that we sent out with a cheque in the post. phew! Very, very stressful.
About to go down and shut my greenhouse window and door and then something startles and dashes off. It looked big to me.
Went upstairs to HH who has saved the day and saved my plants from shivering and me from well, whatever is out there...
