I don't like it's random scruffyness.
This is much more my Mug a Coffee (not fussed on Tea myself).
I actually thought that my Dad had gone mad growing any Anemones considering how much of a purist he is on his blooms but I think he liked the challenge of doing something different and he quite liked the wide varieties in these seedlings. They have grown on me. I think that my favourites are the 1st and 2nd ones.
Made me want to have a go myself but what I ordered looks nothing like what I am growing. This is what I am referring to: I ordered Blue Bayou lovely plant except for one thing:
This is what I have growing. So I am disappointed - won't be collecting any seed from this dahlia, even with it's gorgeous foliage. I think I'll just stick with the non-anemone types - maybe it is a sign.

'The Seedling Times' I've been round the garden armed with my camera but more roving reporter Pirate is out looking taking more photos as I type. "Thank You Pirate".
More reds is coming in the future seedling petal department but
I'm more distracted by the action with D:5. Pretty colour, big bud on thick stems. Lovely.

I think nobody got the link between:Both Shaun the Sheep (+Wallace and Gromitt etc) and HH are from Bristol. The Sweetpea variety is 'Bristol'. A couple of days ago I received the Roger Pearsons sweetpea catalogue through the post which reminded that I had spotted some lovely sweetpeas at the Spring Show, one of which was this lovely winning vase of 'Bristol'. Tried growing Sweetpeas a couple of years ago and loved them, unfortunately they trigged off HH's hay fever big time and when poor Fairy couldn't be in the room with a vase either, I gave up. Well HH quite liked them to - so it has been agreed that I am going to grow them again next year and this year I promise sweetpea that I will try a do a much better job at following your directions. (Including to try very hard at not making them into wuss' by keeping them inside each time a snowflake or frost looks eminent!)
So there you go there is more to gardening life than just dahlias - 'onest g'uv'nor. Mwahaha - you have been warned!

Didn't know your old man came from Bristol Moonlight. My own experiences of Bristol are not the best. Ask him if he knows 'The Hatchet' and the, 'Bunch of Grapes'. on second thoughts, maybe better not

Been round this morning and collected us, so that we could come and see his seedlings. Correction, the girls went and spent time with Aunty P and Nanny, while I was given a guided tour and told which photos of specific seedlings he likes and his Anemone seedlings which he doesn't really know what to do with, (I told him to think of a prefix and sell em) as people don't grow anemone dahlias.
Photos to follow later.

Sorting out Dad's photos seems to be taking ages, partly I think because I don't know where I want them to end up. (i.e. which thread)
Dad looking at his 2014 number 1 seedling.
Dad's 2014 - number 4 seedling.
These are 2013 number 11
More to follow... I have close ups but I might put them in the seedlings / bloom thread.
