So sorry for dad, all the work he put in to get them to that standard to be ,,,,,,, ruined by thoughtless people.

Such a shame. To be fair to the neighbour...how on earth would he know the affect on the dahlias; probably doesn't even know about growing/showing/breeding; probably isn't even a "gardener". Maybe thought the rain would wash all the dust off?....just saying.....

I really do hope that they do wash off. Dad wasn't well today. I hope that he is better tomorrow. Growing dahlias has been his passion for years but so stressful especially in the run up to the show.
Mind you he has had worse. A previous neighbour decided to pump dirty toilet water into our garden.
Gross.

'The Seedling Times' Sorry to be boring but have a brief update.
This is bloom two from this of dec - petals lie flatter. Better bloom. I love the swirl of the petals. I find dahlias where you can see the swirl mesmerising. Marston George is like that but this one has those 'velvet' petals like Pirate.

I would class your red one as a formal.

Formal ? Shouldn't it be wearing a tie ?

Formal ? Shouldn't it be wearing a tie ? That's my fault I said that I thought it was an Informal Dec but I think I got it wrong - so I edited it because I didn't want to look silly. I thought everyone else would be having an early Sunday morning lie in. I was wrong Decorative Detective Roofy around.

Hmm... I like that title. "D.C. Roofgardener, of the Yard". Although in this case "D.C." stands for Dahlia Clueless, rather than Detective Constable. Hang on to your hat Moonshine; I will be uploading photographs of my first ever Dahlia's onto RoofNet later thismorning. Then you can ALL have a good giggle

Not happy with Pirate this morning she said my Pirate seedling was 'Maroon' and when I looked at her in horror and said "No it's not" "Yes it is" "No it is not" "Yes it is because it is Brown and Red!"
I don't know what is worse - comparing my dahlia with BROWN or MAROON!
grim

Roofy I've been looking forward to seeing them for a while now.
