I achieved my goal for this year - I have exhibited my own seedlings.
In a hotly contested Seedling class of 9 entries, 2 from me, 1 from someone else and 6 from me Dad the chances of getting placed were exstremely low. With competition like that there was no shock results. My Dad won all 3 placings. Very proud moment - I entered and my Dad won - can't get better than that - after all, may the best dahlia win and it did.

By "seedlings", I presume you mean plants grown from seeds gathered that a plant you had grown ? I think they look spectacular.
Congratulations either way, Moonshine. And please tell Pirate/Fairy (you didn't say which one) that I think here Amber Festival looks beautiful, and that the judges should all get an appointment with their opticians !

Weather is absolutely pelting it down and we are due a few days of this. So lots of damaged = ruined unshowable dahlias. Oh well, Good Luck for all those covered dahlia competitors - highly likely 1 less contender here.
Maybe next year or just stick with my seedlings.

This is my Dad's Greenways Zoe entry. They came 2nd, the vase that came 1st was awarded the nds Bronze medal second best exhibit in the whole show. Sorry for the rubbish photo scrumpy haven't got the exhibit straight on. The blooms were well balanced (honest!).
Sorry to hear that you have been poorly. Rubbish time. I hope this photo cheers you up a bit.

I am not able to spend a lot of time on the computer at the moment but I wanted to share photo of my favourite exhibit (other than my daughter's of course).
This is another one of my Dad's seedlings.

What sort of paint did you use ? Oil or acrylic ?

I think they look spectacular. What sort of paint did you use ? Oil or acrylic ? Acrylic - dries quicker in the rain - get less runs that way. Made the mistake of using oils on a Candy Jayne made a terrible mess on that one.
You have cheered me up, been trying to load scrumpy's dahlia video and it won't work. Got to the mega grumpy stage.

Nope going to try one last go now. Wonder if that magic mug of coffee of 1st mugga (as opposed to cuppa - tea) of the day works...
