Some of mine have deep red stems (planted out in soil in the front while others have pinky stems (in pots by the wall of the house in the front), I wonder if it is down to the sun??

It must help, I have a tree dahlia that is green while in the greenhouse but goes a bronze colour when outside

I was beginning to wonder, it seems far more plausible that it was light rather than the chance that I planted all green inside and all red outside. You live and learn That does mean that the new, almost black ones I've just bought to compliment the green ones in the conservatory won't work now. A rethink is called for

They are looking healthy floydie, yours are not very red either, are they in the shade?
The first one I planted inside has huge leaves, 80cm (32ins) across.

My biggest one is about that size, and colour. I've put some in the sun, and three facing east. I hoped they'd take off and be bigger by now!

They are round the front of the house against the wall, the front doesn't get sun until late afternoon, these are the ones with the pink stems. (I didn't think it would be a good idea having them in the back with the kids or dogs but i may try one next year in the fenced bed just to see how they take off.

I planted mine - this is one that's been in a sunny position. The leaves are a lovely colour - but it's not as tall as Lou's.

I should have taken a photo of the others that aren't in the sun, Lou. They're not nearly so red.

True. Can't you plant yours in the sun and see if the leaves change colour?
