Ive just put one of mine on the sleeper path in the fenced bed to see what happens . They really must not like the shade, My mothers 2 are both in the shade, one planted up on the bank in the back garden, the other round the front (both tiny compared to mine and they are a month older). Ive told her to move the one in the front so its in the sun.

My RHS book says 'Grow in full sun'. That might mean the ones that I've planted facing east won't do well. I should imagine that shade is a no-no.

The ones planted inside are over seven feet tall and begining to flower, they are completely green.

Are you keeping it in over the winter WF?? mine are no were near as big there about 2ft. It is planted in the ground so it will be there until it dies. I believe they are true annuals and not just frost tender. I'm sure it grows by inches everyday Grindle.

They are actually Perennials and make large bushes/trees in such as Spain but are not cold hardy so grown as Annuals over here....however if you were to overwinter in a conservatory

Oops, I could be in trouble now, if they survive in Spain then it will survive in the conservatory. I have a few plants which are native to Spain in there and they are all doing well.
