My old plastic potting tray has faded and holes are apearing time for a new one .A much larger one this time like Monty Don one I have two large pieced of ply left over from the heated propagater table I made last year, perfect for the job. I saw this one on pintrest measurements found on this site ruralgardener.co.uk/category/other-stuff/diy-projects/page/3/ Anyway mine is going to be slightly different 32" broad and 24" deep and hopefully if I cut it correctly I`ll be able to set one of my bargain windowsill trays along the top for odds and ends. I will post some pics later

What the.....
I think we have missed the main news story here.
Your potting shed has proper mains electricity ? (note the wallplugs above the potting trays.)
Roofgardener is turning green with envy. Sure... I've got electricity in the Greenhouse (or I will have, once re-assembled)... but its an improvised dangling cable. ).
But proper mains sockets ? Thats POSH that is !!!
Tell me you don't have central heating in there as well ?

You could stick, nail or screw some short pieces of dowel to the plywood plate.

Yes thanks daithplant good idea .I have lots of doweling , I could sharpen it somwhat at the ends .I could use a good wood glue or no more nails . dash it I have none, and I was in B&Q yesterday too its a bus ride plus a mile and a half walk on my pins to get to B&Q as it`s in a retail park and no direct transport to it )

now I`m working on the seed tray dibbers , I have lots of 15 mm doweling rods and have sent off for a 15mm pencil sharpener . I`d like to drill small 15 mm holes in the ply at intervals but my drill bit just go up to 10mm , anybody an idea how I would make a bigger hole .

You can get a spade bit or a... umm... thingymabob like these.... B+Q should do both ? Failing that, can't you just buy a packet of 15mm holes ?

Get a 15mm wood hole bit. Thanks guys , I was trying not to have to go out shopping and buying more stuff but just remembered I bought some very big drill bits last year and thought they were way to big for my little drill . I just found them and see that the drill bit is big 13mm and a 15mm but the end that goes in the drill is about 10mm can`t believe I didn`t even remember I had them. now if only I could remember wher I last saw the wood glue........

At long last here is the painted and varnished potting tray. i`m well pleased with it . i havn`t added a lip at the front yet as i have no wood long enough but if the compost falls out i can add a bit later on . and this is a close up of the one stroke painting on one side only , ( it dosn`t look anything like the one in the book, but I`m pleased with it ) I have screwed on a 59p toothbrush holder for my dibbers ect . the breadth of the tray is exactly the same size as the inside measurements of the window tray . I couldn`t find the wood glue when i was screwing it together which is a pity as I had trouble sealing the joints with it later , don`t want any wet to get to the seams.
