Keep the pics coming Sue. Sue, our allotments are hoping to put cameras into the wildlife area we are creating. May I ask what yours is? It's a 'Swann Advanced-Series OutbackCam' Dai, O.H. got it for me as a surprise Christmas present, I think he got it from Maplins. It takes infrared photos at night so it doesn't 'flash' & frighten the animals, I've got it set on motion sensor to take 3 photos at a time at 30 second intervals during 9pm & 10am but you can set it to do lots of different things, time lapse, short videos etc. There are lots of different cameras available, this one comes with a strap so that you can fasten it round a post or a tree & runs off 4 AA batteries, the only problem is that it would be easy to steal, you can paddlock the camera shut & could probably fasten it onto something with a bicycle lock which may be necessary if it's left on an allotment - love the idea of allotments having them!

The hedgehog came back again last night or maybe it's a few of them, the camera was triggered at about 4 different times, at one point it looks like the hedgehog was scratching it's bottom on the camera!

Sue, our intention is to set up a live link to the local schools/area.

You'd need a better one than this then Dai, mine records to an SD card which I remove & look at on my camera/laptop as we didn't want a wired in camera. You can get some really good wired ones which give a live feed to a T.V. or computer & will record as well.

There are lots of different cameras out there Dai, you'd have to get something which you could link to a website which the schools etc. could view the images on. The RSPB do a few, there's one here which you could view on a TV, some do TV & /or computer but you would have to leave valuable equipment ie. TV/computer on site as they usually only have leads about 20-30m long. RSPB Cameras

We're still getting hedgehog visits about 3 times a night but I got a surprise this morning as there's a little mouse in shot about 5.15am! Little mouse peeping in at top right I've set the camera up to do 30 second videos tonight, no idea whether it will work though, will have to see what's on the card tomorrow.

I love checking the camera in the morning to see what's on it, it does seem to vary with the weather though, the camera doesn't like frost, mist or early morning dew & some nights has stopped working. I tried setting it up a bit higher but that didn't help & also tried the video setting but for some reason the 'light' was very bright on that & washed out the films. The hedgehog comes every night about 3 times a few hours apart & the mouse is usually on there at 5.15am, sometimes a bit earlier/later as well. I was surprised to see the kitten with the hedgehog & the bird with the mouse though, amazing what goes on in the dark! Tiny clips of the mouse & hedgehog on video:-

I've been putting hedgehog food on the patio and last night the security light came on and the hedgehog was there busy feeding. I knew there was one visiting because I've seen the poo and crunched up snail shells but this is the first time I've seen it this year
