That's a shame dianthus but it is a bit hit & miss isn't it & you'll probably have a bumper year next. Before I had the greenhouse I used to struggle with blight nearly every year but the taste of the few toms I did get made me carry on, if the weather stays O.K. & light/warm enough you might be enjoying your toms this year yet when ours are just distant memories!

I was inspired by your photo of your bowl of tomatoes esther! Were some of yours beefsteaks, I bought a small plant which was labelled beefsteak but the fruits don't look very big or beefy yet & are still green, may have been mislabelled but I think it only cost me 50p so can't complain! Yes Sue - Gigantomo,Ananas and Brutus are the beefsteaks and also Costoluto fiorentino which is a big ribbed tomato

I hope so, Sue, but most likely living elsewhere, and doubt I'll be lucky enough to have a conservatory.

roofgardener keep the temperature up but good air circulation, I find this helps bring on ripening ( not easy if outdoors but not impossible if you protect them with wind break etc) hope they turn soon

My outdoor Red Alert have produced an amazing crop and are just as good as the greenhouse toms. I have only one bush in a pot by the house wall, but will have another next year. We are in a potato growing area, but I don't seem to get blight. It may be because it is very dry here.

They look good too sweetpea, but I will just save seed from my Red Alert. They came originally from ladybird. I am very impressed with these. They are really just as good as anything from the greenhouse and there are loads on one plant. Winning the taste test so far are Sweet Aperatif and Sungold. Tigerella is not ripe yet.

I think I may have put my tomatoes in too late this year, the fruit has formed on most of them but they're no where near ready to eat yet. Looking good none the less.
