Growing from seed is one of my favourite occupations... So far this year I have sown (in 3" pots): Antirrhinum Royal Bride Digitalis Mirabelle Verbena Bonariensis Colocasia fallax Akebia Quinata (not optimistic about this one) Coleus Black Dragon Kirengeshoma Palmata (any tips for growing this from seed?) Coboea Scandens All but the kirengeshoma and akebia have germinated. Plan to start off my sweet peas tomorrow... In March I will sow... Stocks, Nasturtiums (3 varieties), sweet rocket, cosmos (Ladybitd scarlet and sonata), gerbera jamesonii, cleome (Cherry Queen), Gazania (3 varieties), lisanthus (2 varieties), French marigolds (lots of different varieties), nicotiana deep purple, ricinus (impala and a purple one), helianthis 'Tiffany', Bishop of Llandaff like dahlia... In April-May I'll sow the ipomoeas and mina lobata.... I'll no doubt have a few failures, but it will be tremendous fun. I'll be able to give away lots of young plants to my sisters and friends, and I do my Dad's bedding display every year. Then there are the veg.....

It is good to read what is being sown just now. CPB it is nice to be able to give some plants away and do your father's garden.

Bists they do sound good, except the Verbena bonariensis. I am not too keen on this.

I was thinking seriously about the Baptisia australis because I saw it growing well at Cambridge Botanic, but I only had the funds for a few packets of seeds and it fell off the list. You will need a big space for this, but it looks good.

Got them from Fothergills I think...that many seeds, I'm not sure !!!
