As usual I bought too many seeds, and have a big fat seed voucher for seedaholics still to use. As well as the usual bedding plants petunias, lobelia ect. I`ll be trying some new ones this year; Ajuga, Ammi Majus, Berlandiera, cardiocrinum, caryopteris, codonopsis, cammisonia, caster oil plant, hop ( for the 4th try ), kirengeshoma, ligularia, melampodium, meadowsweet (also for the 4th try ), monarda lemon, perennial phlox, Romneya, Rosa chinesis "angel rose", sedem, thalictrum, tithonia. So if anyone has any experience of growin these from seed and have any advice it would be most welcome.

I have lots of packets of seed and I will have to make a decision soon, which ones to grow; as I will have lots of dahlia cuttings in the greenhouse up to the middle of May. It should be easier next year with the polytunnel

hop ( for the 4th try ) Is it the normal one or the golden? I can take you cuttings of either if you would like. I'm the same, I have more seeds than I can sow. I will be sowing Echium Blue bedder and cosmos later, I have Antirrhinum Brighton rock, Foxglove Pam's split, Coreopsis and Coleus to sow this month. I have my seeds sorted into months, each month I'll sow as many of them as I have room for.

Rosie, I didn't know that the Scots have their own Primroses, are they Salmond pink If I sow all the seeds I have they would cover the County, so I'll just have a wee sprinkle.

One veg plant I'm definately trying is the potato Purple Majesty. Purple right through and tastes fantastic! I bought a bag from sainsbury's the other day. I have kept four tubers back to grow in a tub. I'll post pictures of the tubers and resulting mash soon....startling but delicious!
Ten times the antioxidants of a normal potato, the pigment being the same as found in blueberries. The variety originally comes from the high Andes where presumably it has been grown by locals for centuries. Bartlett of I think Perthshire? in Scotland grew them for the first time last year and will grow a much larger crop this year.
