Clever you Floydie, not only do you take nice pics but you've managed to grow Lewisia nicely, upright too! Wish I could grow them. Ive had it a few years, its always been in a pot, from what i can gather it likes to be dry, when we had a wet summer it shrank in size its coming back nicely now though ;D.

The garden is still nothing to shout about, lots of bare soil, bags of garden waste (waiting for OH to go to the tip ), My pots are still offering a splash of colour so thats good . The grass on the bank has defeated me roots and new blades are popping up all over. I'll take some new pics once the rubbish has gone.

Rome wasn't built in a day You will get there Floydie. The first year I was here it was entirely bramble and sapling removal, no real gardening at all. Have faith you will beat the grass.

A lot of your plants are going to look even better next year when they become more established. Lily beetles like the Solomon's Seal, but you may be safe as you don't have a lot of lilies. I do love this. Did you see Steve's variegated one on Flowers for April?

same here, gardening consisted of knocking things down, digging huge amounts of soil and shifting it from one place to another, I think you've done really well so far Floydie

It is beginning to take shape. The Ajuga will soon spread and it is fantastic for bees.
Is that a hosta to the left? If it is you might lose it to slugs and snails. The stones at the back look like they might house a few of them, they will make short work of your hosta over night. I'd hate you to find it has gone one morning.
The only place I can grow hostas in my garden is in the pond.

Do you ever use weedkiller in your garden? Maybe you could in the case of the grass, if you can't get the roots out. I only use it on my brick and cobble steps, because I found I was loosening the cobbles by digging the weeds out. It does the job, even though I don't like using it.

Its a hosta yes i moved it to there as Molly kept standing on it, I'll try to think of some were better for it, Oh one thing our soil is apparently full of coal dust (Not to do with us the people before just chucked it any were) one things slugs don't like so i may be lucky (Ive only seen them in the compost bin and paving). I sprayed all the back to kill the grass a few times, now i have bulbs, seedlings and shrubs growing in the area so I'm not keen to use it .
