Just got the results from Wisley, couldn't attend today, so staged late last night. Got two firsts from three vases, rain put paid to my other entries. Novice 3 ball with Mary's(best vase I've done this year), and 3 miniature dec with two Barbarry Aleks, and a Barbarry Gala. Disappointed not to stage more, but the covers will be up for next year. Kent won the society championship, and Dave Spencer just about clean up with every other award. Agree with Ian, top bloke!

Yes wisley was a true spectacle Kent won the Herbert Brown and Dave spencer the Terry Clarke by 1 point. Dave Spencer had the best gurtla twilight I have seen it was immaculate in both the Terry Clarke and herbert brown. Phil Watson's kiwi Gloria in the Terry Clarke truly stunning both those vases getting 24 points. I also loved Daves vase of polventon kristobal. It was stunning. Dave won numerous individual titles truly magnificent effort from a real ambassador and passionate showman and also a real gentleman happy to help. Spotted the min Dec I wish to grow next year hillcrest divine. Met Ian k and ste b . I shall leave Steve to Ian to announce how they did. Great day wisley is amazing place. Visited the trial beds as well. Nothing much in it caught my attention. If I can ever get Ruskin Michelle to the size Phil watson gets it is a beauty and out scores all bar the moonlights. Stunning dahlia. Got to have a chat to Dave Gillam. Great day. What I did notice Oakwood and cherwell goldcrest and even lemon elegans will out score a decent zoe. Food for thought for the future.

Judged this morning at Wisley. Some very close scoring in some of the classes. I may be sayimg the obvious but when comparing points in different classes for the same variety you have to consider that they may have been judged by different team whose starting point of a "standard vase" would have been different. Hope that makes sense! It has been a long day! Well done to all who staged, winners or not. Very close in the Herbert Brown and the Terry Clarke with only 1 point difference in each.

Good Evening everyone just got back from a great day out at Wisley, I managed a 2nd and 3 3rds really gutted for my mate Phil watson to be beaten in the individual championship by just 1point ( if only he had used the vase of Eastwood moonlight instead of Rycroft Helen ) well never mind , ad then to vase and stage our society exhibit and lose by 1point again I now no how Phil feels. Oh well roll on next year, my next show is on Saturday at Darlington C&D society. On a positive note I finally met up with my good friend Raymond nice to meet you and hopefully we will meet up again.

Phil Watson's entry in the Terry Clarke. He only scored 13 for ryecroft Helen which cost him the title. His kiwi Gloria where stunning.

Great pics Raymond. The quality of those blooms is amazing! Exhibiting at local shows compared with this standard is like Division 3 against premier league football! It is an indicator of what standard can be achieved and what we should aim for. Well done Steve with the Arthur Griffiths and your other placings.

@davidv what worth than anything was it the size but the depth of the blooms. Also staging and the matching of the vases. One vase of polventon kristobal from Dave Spencer the centres where absolutely amazing. Complete match. I did see in the novices some nice stuff but I think many of us novice growers in a couple of years could attain this standard. Some things lovely others not. Tel the collarettes where I think very poor. I think you should consider the national next year. Here are the other Terry Clark exhibits 3rd place Andrew Robinson . Lovely Gateshead festival. scored well from what I noticed. 4th place to our own Mr ste b well done sir. Loved the challenger and moonlights great exhibit. Can only dream of growing and exhibiting dahlias to this standard. 5th place Andrew aspital

Mary's Jane Roberts best vase in the miniature cactus Tom mcclelland. Looked great. I cut some blooms of my plant yesterday not far off these. I also met the raiser of the josudi miniatures. He said he want to win either wisley or harrogate championship with his own raising then he will release. Does not want to be beaten by other people growing his dahlias. They in picture right hand side forgot to photograph them. He has loads !
