Great pictures Steve, was hoping to take a few myself, but slicing straight down my thumb staging, made holding my phone impossible...ouch!!! I totally agree about the new venue, much better lighting than before, though I don't think it helped my staging . But wow, what a fantastic show. Congratulations must go to the Northern committee for organizing it all, and making it as easy for all us exhibitors as possible. To Mr Ian Sutherland(yes you, that man in the SUIT!) for arranging the judges and stewards into their respective teams, who somehow managed the task of judging so many vases in the time allowed. And to all the exhibitors, who came from all over the country and Scotland, Ireland and Wales. Well done everybody, and hope to see you all next year!!
P.S One thing I don't won't next year is the A1 being shut, and taking six and a half hours instead of three and a half, to get home. Especially with a throbbing thumb

I agree with you Johndoe Ian did a superb job and gave me a great class to judge the society class with Terry B and patsy from Ireland and Johndoe as as our steward it was a great experience I will never forget , see the other side of the show , patsy cut on tue and wed brought them over the Irish Sea and staged some very good entries , helping Ian with some specials at the end he has a fantastic eye for dahlias very quick , will after say being a new judge has made me a better exhibiter already I look more at the blooms now, if anybody thinks there ready and is thinking of taking the exam give it a go it's well worth it . Sorry Ian about the result hehe the bishop lads had a very good entry up and had very good entries up in other championships congrats to Phil Watson in the Neville weeks I have pics of 123 if it's aright to put up. Well done Ian on your silver in section C with a superb 2 vases of challenger

Hope he isn't ill....of course his 'puter might be down?....wonder if Cherry knows anything? I messaged him a few days ago, and have had no reply..... I do hope everything is ok, but it is worrying that he's missed his favourite show and wasn't in attendance, even if his blooms couldn't be shown for any reason.
ian - did anyone get a cards for the Gardener's Friends dahlia?

Kent fed show great day showing and stewarding. Put in 8 entries 3 first, 3 second and 2 third.
1st small semi cactus with ryecroft zoe 1st min ball with Mary's 1st three distinct blooms with Andrea, Mary's and dikara superb.
2nd single bloom with narrows Sonia getting its debut from me . I like it a lot. 2nd min Dec with dikara superb. 2nd travellers choice vase either dahlias or chrysanthemum or mixed. Minimum 5 blooms used 6 dahlias. Tried to make a eye catching display. People said I should have won but it's cool as I think I should have been second in min ball 3rd small Dec 3rd collerettes. I had two lovely garden friends but one lost a petal so had to use a spare that cost me second.
I liked Ruskin Diane on show. Prefer to winholm. I also liked marston Karen that won min Dec. Although it looks like a ball. Hahaha
Will post pictures later .
Really really chuffed. Great day out and enjoyed the stewarding did both dahlias and crysants. Some good crysants.
