thanks, they're caster oil plants Lesley...I haven't sown my cucumbers yet...tend not to start them until the end of March. I have lots of ideas...the far corner gets the most sun...so that will be my 'hot area' already have knopfias and heleniums in that bit...but tbh I tend to get over excited and stuff things in as and when...there will definitely be french marigolds (golden gate, Queen Sophie, Romeo, bi-colour honeycomb....I could go on), tagettes (starfire), veronicas, helianthis (Tiffany), verbena bonariensis, dahlias, sweet peas, mina lobata, lupins, cosmos, heliotrope, gazanias, stocks, nasturtiums, nicotiana kirengeshoma, baslam, scabious...erm....I do have another strip to plant up...plus a large pot in the front garden, and I grow flowers for my Dad's garden as well...(he's 89 and registered blind...has a tiny bit of vision so contrasts and scent are important)

I have quite a few large pots to plant up. I generally pop french marigolds in the GH border and around the veg plot... I'm all excited now...I need a cold shower!

I do that kind of planting. It helps to keep weeds down for a start! How long did your Castor oil plants take to germinate?

The ricinus communis impala are all through and took 5-7 days to germinate, the New Zealand Purple are still germinating. I soaked the seed for 24 hours in tepid water (in a heated propagator) before sowing. Close planting....survival of the fittest...

Oh dear - mine have been planted longer than that. I do hope they're going to appear!

I tipped a pot out to see what the seed was doing - and it hasn't even started to germinate! That's very kind of you.

No problem, do you have yours in a heated propagator?
