Nice one JD what a great price for those telegraph poles hehe. My plants have found the base feed now and are jumping on after all the sunshine then rain and sunshine again I would say probably a perfect growing season up to now for growing. Just a case of plenty TLC gallons of it. I will more than likely see you and the Midlands show.

I'm well Ian, getting fed up with the high winds and rain we keep getting down here though . Also I think since Mr Gillam put the NDS on facebook, nearly all the dahlia growers use that and not the dahlia forum anymore. Coupled with the sad passing of Tel and Moonlight, the dahlia section has become a bit of a ghost town. Oops, there blows another ball of tumbleweed down the high street . Still, that's progress for you.....

I think your right there johndoe possibly also because far easier to upload photos. I have to make a specific point of firing up the mainframe computer to use tiny pics to upload here but like I am typing now I can use my phone or tablet to upload on Facebook. Missing Tel and Moonlight. Times they are a changing...

Yes the dahlia section is poorer for their passing Tel and Moonlight were great and I certainly miss them. Yes the Dahlia website is taking lots of traffic. I had a wonderful letter off Jane's Dad yesterday he said if there could be a happy funeral then Jane's was and he was humbled by the amount of people and all their kind words and cards sent. He has planted all Jane's seedlings and hope there is a winner amongst them Lets hope so something to remember Jane by.
Also he says Pirate and Fairy are both wanting to continue showing, giving up a chance to perform in Joseph over showing at a flower show, their mum would be so proud of them.
I am sure it is ok to say this now, but Jane never wanted it common knowledge but her Dad John Sharp was the raiser of probably one of the most prolific winning varieties Eastwood Moonlight (41years ago now and still nothing to touch it really apart from its sports, maybe). So with that pedigree I am sure there will be some of Jane's seedlings that will be worth looking at.
It looks like John himself has a few seedlings that look the business and I feel very honored to be growing some on trial for him. So I for one am very pleased John has decided a couple of years ago to grow again and continue with his hybridization program.
Hope your Dahlias sre looking well Cat oh and of course Che.

Lovely said Lou. Winholme Diane two days. Considering no food, and taking a deluge of rain today, it's coming along. And no spots...... yet!!!!!! Just hope the real ones are taking notice

Thanks for letting us know about Jane's family ian, I really miss her lovely posts on here with her multi-colour coded dahlia plans & her tales of her seedlings & her girls. Great to hear that Pirate & Fairy are following the family 'trade' under the guidance of their granddad!

Excited Che tonight. Gave him early birthday present - National Dahlia Society membership. He loved it. Can't thank those who helped sort in time for his birthday enough. Thank you!

Had Most of the Dahlias in the ground for a couple of weeks now, for some reason it seems that Eastwood Moonlight is particularly appealing to slugs this year ! Most of the plants have been hardly eaten but Eastwood Moonlight is taking a hammering this year ! I've never seen this before.
