Thank you all for your Bon Voyage messages. First class is a good way to go to Australia, and Moira has arranged for a stopover in Dubais. Lucky me. Their house is not air conditioned, but I have been given the office with a new bed and it is properly air conditioned.
The snakes are out in force in the heat. Moira saw a Taipan and a Brown Snake which was ready to strike. I hate snakes and I am pleased she is still in the Townsville house. The one on Magnetic Island is next to the protected forest and I used to hang the washing out in the line area I called the 'snake pit'.
I arrive on my first daughter's 50th birthday, so will visit her as soon as I leave the airport.
I have to plant manuka trees from seed for Glyphosate. He has some potting sand and potting seed mix, which would be correct, but I don't know about the proportions to use. Any ideas anyone?

Keep away from the snakes Cherry ! I've never grown Manuka seeds but if they require well-drained potting compost I'd guess at 50-50 with the compost & sand mix & cross my fingers. Have a safe flight. xx

I've never grown Leptospermum scoparium, Cherry. I've just browsed a few internet sites, and they make no mention of sandy soil. Indeed, they suggest that Manuka will tolerate most soil types, though it prefers well drained (but not dry) and slightly acidic soils ?

To they HAVE the internet in Australia yet ? Roofie I'm surprised at you! of course they have the internet there and many other things as well all far superior to anything in this sad country of ours. While trying to post this comment I was advised my internet connection was down (twice) but of course it wasn't. only when using this site, everywhere else ok. Anyway Cherry if you enjoy your trip half as much as I enjoyed mine you will have a GREAT time.
