That's great Roofy, Cherry used to live on a farm with a cherry orchard too when she was young.

Coming from Kent, cherries are my favourite fruit, too.
You see, it's a small world now, what with the jets and the internet, especially Skype. Once upon a time (only thirty years ago, you cheeky young'uns), a telephone call on Christmas Day, was special and very expensive, to talk with antipodean loved ones and friends, let alone the difficulties of time difference.
Was your Godsister very appreciative of your roofgarden, roofgardener ?

roofgardener I am really touched by this. I couldn't pick up the town in WA, but she looks southern. Good skin not too touched by the tropical sun. The orchard was in Croydon, and we also grew peaches and apples as well as a few fig trees and had a lemon grove. We had two dams for irrigation. I will be back visiting Melbourne area at the end of July. Please get in touch Sue. Enjoy your trip to UK. Roofy the garden looks fabulous. Mine looks a little like yours, but the plants are mainly tropical herbs, like cardamom amd pepper, and fruits such as Dragon Fruit, Passion Fruit and Pineapple Guava with essential lime, lemon and Thai lime. In a Queenslander a lot of plants are kept on the verandah. I am not too keen on gardening near snakes, cane toads and possums.

I think I'd much rather have your Melbourne fruit than your Queensland fruit, Cherry . Dragonfruit look too much like tapioca, for me, and I don't like the grittiness of guava. Imagine being able to pick a ripe peach straight off the tree - wonderful
You can't always avoid killer snakes in the UK, either! Grandad had to despatch a four foot adder that had decided to live in our back garden. It was far too dangerous to have living amongst three children playing outside.
