I had a busy time in the garden this afternoon. I picked up two more bags of compost hasn't that gone up in price? I tried to put it away but found I had an avalanche in the potting shed over night. I had to restack everything (slightly less precariously) before I could get in. I put my Begonia tubers in compost and they are now warming on a windowsill. I sowed Antirrhinum and Coreopsis which are in the airing cupboard and the Foxgloves are on another windowsill. I wired up some of the branches on my new Acer to encourage it into a better shape and planted some primula (20p bargains) below it. Put some barley straw in the pond and took a load of stuff down to the fire. The dog spent the whole time in ice cold water and then covered herself in burrs We both had a great afternoon.

You don't have to get them out, Ron! I couldn't do a lot - the frost is still on the grass, so I didn't want to walk on it. I went in the greenhouse and potted up another tray of Penstemon cuttings that had rooted. I did remember to take my pen to write labels, too!

Spent half hour or so having a little tidy of the front garden, swept the paths and middle of leaves(don't know where they're still coming from) a very light tidy of the borders to reveal bulbs coming thru', took the leaves from the hellebores-some in bud others just coming thru'...one border is being used for a loo and soil being flung on the path!!!!!!!!!!it's between a black cat and a fox!!!!!!

Cut back some more perennials, weeded, and spread a bit more compost, and cleaned the bird box

The ground is like a stone at the minute here Louise. Today i attempted to prune a couple of Buddleja's that are in the garden but i can't cut through the stems with my secateurs as it hurt my hands, i need loppers to make it easoer for me. And i found a flowering currant! that will be out when the ground is softer...UGH :-XI don't like them at all

I haven't been outside at all - it's cold here too, and the grass is all frosted. I don't want to walk on it, and I'd have to to get to the greenhouses even! I was up there yesterday so I don't think anything needs any TLC.

Makes you wonder how moles manage to dig up through the frozen soil. Still we must be on the right side of winter now....surely! Did you know that today there's 20mins more daylight than last Friday, hope you've made good use of it.
