I kind of like Chelsea but when you hear that some of the show gardens cost £250,000 to build, I have to think what a shocking waste of money.

I watched all today's shows & couldn't help thinking :- Men who last wore a suit when they got married - Monty Don & Adam Frost Men who really 'rock' a suit - James Alexander-Sinclair, Alan Titchmarsh & James Wong Men who would look good in anything - even a binbag - Cleve West & Chris Beardshaw Best dressed gardener - Carol Klein - love everything she wears, every colour of the rainbow & doesn't care what anyone thinks!

Monty don usually looks like he woke up under a hedge after a heavy downpour, then blow dried by high winds lol.

I love Monty floydie but he does look like a 'man of the soil' as though he's walked out of 'Wuthering Heights', 'Cider With Rosie' or 'Lady Chatterley's Lover' !

Hope it improves as the week goes on - there are 17 show gardens we've only seen the same 5 or 6. Spoke to soon about the foreign trips - already we've been taken to France and Jordan - and also celebrities galore

I know daisy , I went 'oh no & now we're off to Jordan' but I did quite enjoy that where he was finding out about the weaving of the cloth & the red anemones which are followed by red buttercups & red poppies & all the wild blue lupins (slug caviar here! ).

I enjoyed the Jordan bit also, but I don't know how you can get red buttercups. Butter is yellow !
I don't really like those designed gardens though. The design always seems to take priority over the plants, and they look a bit stiff and 'finished' ... not the sort of garden I like at all. And the cost

Some of the gardens are a bit over-engineered & too much hard landscaping but a lot have beautiful planting too, Chris Beardshaw's Morgan Stanley Garden has lovely planting & is going to be relocated to Great Ormond Street Hospital in a family courtyard area afterwards so well worth the money that the sponsors will have spent on it.

Beautifully written Sue, an d I agree with it, but I absolutely hate Monty Don and stopped watching GW because of him.

Medals day today - tantrums and tiaras. I think Chris, Cleeve and Andy are definitely gold medal winners. Saw Jekka Mcvicars garden which could be in with a shout for gold but I didn't see Rosie Hardys finished garden. I remember one year the cameras were filming the early morning round with the RHS ladies handing out the medals - when asked about his medal Dan Pearson told the cameras to go away and leave him alone - he received a silver gilt that year - in my humble opinion any medal at Chelsea is brilliant - just getting accepted to build one is an achievement in its self!

I loved the spotted white dress and little pink bolero Carol wore last year it just looked so pretty. I think Monty and Adam look better in their everyday gardening clothes - they're both dressed up and are as comfortable as fish on bikes! Monty is wearing his usual shirt but tarted up with a tie and jacket - wonder if the tie will go now that the Queen has visited - or did he wear it everyday last year? We should place bets...

I couldn't help but notice the beautiful orange/bronze foxglove in Andy Sturgeon's garden it's stunning - it looks like one of the illumination series - Joe Swift couldn't remember it's name, but maybe I'll find out what it is today - seems there are lots of foxgloves in the show this year - I'm not complaining, the more the merrier I love them

Monty probably will take the tie off now daisy, it looks like one he's borrowed specially! I love Carol's outfits, she's been wearing some lovely dresses recently with photoprint scenery & flowers on but she looks happiest in her biker jackets & jeans like me too! (I do wear pretty dresses occasionally - when the mood strikes me! )
