I am sorry to hear Henry has gone, but glad he's not suffering anything now. Hope Geranium is comforted by it too.

Thank you all for your kind thoughts and messages, and to Rosie for letting you all know abut our beautiful boy. Yes, it was the right decision - he was so ill. Our lovely vet came out and he passed away peacefully in our arms. Since then, we've scattered his ashes around the garden, so he's come home.
I've been really desperately upset of course, and the house feels empty without him, so we made the decision (with advice from our vet) that we would look for a puppy. Last week we went to look at Cocker Spaniels and the upshot is that our new baby who is 9 weeks old and chocolate coloured will be coming to his new home next Wednesday.
I've called him 'Widget'. You can laugh if you like - but the name suits him - he's so bouncy and gorgeous and he will make me smile again after all the tears.
By the way - I lost 8lb in the first week - but I don't recommend the diet!

Thanks - it's lovely to be back. Yes, grindle, I can't wait to see him again. My friend at church has an older Cocker and she's lent me a training book. I think we're all set up for our puppy, all except the wire mesh across the bottom of the gate where he could easily wriggle under!
