I can't remember if I've mentioned this ....
The little road that goes past the back of my garden is often strewn with litter, and I am fed up with it
So I collected some, and tied it on one of the trellis posts I put up recently, and labelled it with a sign saying 'LITTER LOUTS' My hope was that it would shame the culprit, and it must have worked because I haven't seen any since.
and I can't get the lettering to go back to black !

Looks like it was probably thrown from a car Eli, they probably drive up & park when it's quiet, throw their rubbish out & then drive off. Hope your message works!

Well done Eli, there is no need to leave litter anywhere, just take it home with you.

They are so annoying - bet they'd be the first to tell you if you dropped litter near their house

We get a lot of litter deposited by school kids after they visit the local shop for their sweets etc. which is then dumped near our drive. thing is, we used to always blame the school kids but there are quite a few adults who should really know better just as blameworthy. as said, very annoying

It was glass here a few weeks ago - when finished with the bottle it was thrown on the road - since we value or health we weren't going out to tell a group of drunken youths they shouldn't do that

They are very bad around here. It's as if they have no civic pride.....
..... and don't get me started on the owner of two spaniels, who refuses to pick up after his dogs. He is a total disgrace.

We don't get any litter dropped up here, it's so nice compared to the garden at our old flat. People would chuck anything over the wall from the pavement. (We still have and use a big old pub drinking glass that someone chucked over the wall lol! Well cleansed first of course!) Like Daisy said, we never did anything because a lot of it came from yobs. The sign is a great idea.

We had permanent litter at our old house as we were near a chip shop & corner shop/off licence & litter that was dropped outside there used to blow down the road & end up on our drive but it's completely different here as we're in a small cul-de-sac & it's very rare that anything gets dropped.

Interesting to read all your comments.
There's no dog mess along this road, although many people walk their dogs here, and I have a chat with them sometimes. I have seen it in other places though. I haven't seen glass here either.
I do believe it's adults that throw this litter from cars as they pass by. Not many children use the road.

we don't get too much trouble with litter, mostly after bin day

We do, mostly from Power Station workers throwing it out of their cars - cans, sandwich wrappers etc. I think your idea is brilliant, Eli.

You're lucky grindle
It's a shame isn't it, Geranium, that people don't respect the countryside. I find it bad that people from 'outside' an area should throw litter around. It shows a total disregard for the people living there, not to mention the wildlife etc as well.
