Don't envy you ziggy , I did just one recently & used a power saw to take half an inch off the top & bottom, had to plane the side as well (tried sawing it but line too wobbly as it was only a small amount I needed to take off), tough going with a handsaw on solid wood so I went with power but the wood was so hard the battery kept running out! I want some more new doors fitting & they'll all need trimming to fit if you fancy doing some more! I was so exhausted after fitting new hinges etc. as well that I might just repaint the old ones that are on already. It's exhausting.. lol. I have to pace myself and do two doors per day.

Tree update: the peach tree is now too big for the growing bench and I have moved some judas tree seedlings inside under the light to try and save them as some succumbed to mould in the polytunnel... sigh. Everything else out there seems ok for now. Just had some monterrey cypress germinate along with more whitebeam, evergrewn oak, rowan and jumiper. The peach tree seedling Baby monterrey cypress...

Thank you. I tried hawthorn and cotoneaster yesterday but then gave up as the windchill factor was making my fingers very cold! Will stick some to the apple trees later.

I'm discovering that the previous owners here loved bulbs. They are popping up everywhere over the farm! I even found a huge number of what I think may be daffodils sprouting up around where I planted brassica last year. How did I miss them?? Lol. Is this an iris? Also plenty of snowdrops and daffodils.

Yes ziggy it's an iris reticulata, a pretty dwarf early iris. You might get lots of nice surprises popping up by the sound of it!
