Hi Cat, sorry for the delay, but here's a couple of wedding flower pictures. They're a bit sad at this stage as they were cut on Thursday, and the bouquet blooms had been out of water all day, but the bride was very pleased. She loves Blyton Everest, although they stuck purple hearts on the centres .
One of the table designs
Flowers at the entrance to the suite
Tomo and Weston Buccaneer on the cake
And a very tired looking bouquet at 8.00pm in the evening...

The wedding flowers are stunning johndoe , I wish I'd known someone who grew beautiful flowers like that when I got married (36 years ago!), I love the colour scheme too.

Many thanks johnjess it was quite tiring friday and saturday I must admit. Che obviously wants to do everything himself and quite rightly so but it does mean that everything takes that bit longer and needs to be organised well in advance so he knows what he is doing on the day (he chooses everything) He also uses a felco knife etc to cut stems so I have to watch like a hawk! I let him do this so that he understands the way to be sensible and not injure himself, how to respect what they can do and what he shouldn't do, so hopefully he won't feel the need to show off because it is commonplace for him. He entered cookery and sewing as well as the flower classes so he was busy baking and finishing things friday all day, but boy was it worth it in the end. His face made it all worth while. The pictures have apparently been sent to the local rag so he may be in there this week or next which he will love. The show is not judged the same as our Cornwall Dahlia Society NDS affiliated shows but if they help to keep Che keen and help to keep him going until the end of the month then that's great. After all he must have done something right to be chosen over the other entries Today we spent several hours disbudding and securing buds. We also gave everything except kiwis a feed. We will have to address an earwig rise that has started to munch some plants but having picked 93 slugs off the lawn the other morning at least they shouldn't be an issues for a few days!! lol johndoe I hope wedding flowers went well for you, I liked the combination of blooms you shared Many, many congratulations to Che for his well deserved wins. Good luck for the rest of the season

Hope everyone has lots of success at the upcoming shows:). I've just booked our hotel for the Harrogate Show next month. Its been a few years since we attended, so am looking forward to having a good browse round the exhibits, particularly the dahlias (surprise!..lol) Hope to see some familiar names on the red cards; and hope the exhibits haven't been taken away as often happens on the Saturday.

Great night at the Midlands Dahlia society single bloom show. Lovely to meet up with everybody there and talk all things dahlia . Plus the added bonus of a fabulous talk and display on staging by the National Champion himself. I know loads of us there learned a great deal, especially all the crafty stuff to help the judges see your vase in a good light. Thank you Ian, bl**dy marvellous. The cheeky buggar even entered one of the blooms he was going to show us how to stage, and went and blooming won the top prize in the show!!! I took 8 early blooms to show in 8 classes, and managed to win 2 red cards in the medium semi cactus, and the miniature dec class. So out of nearly 300 blooms, I'm really chuffed.
Hillcrest Candy, Medium semi cactus winner
Barbarry Delegate, Miniature dec winner. Some of the lovely blooms from last nights show. A big thank you to all those who put the show on, particularly Angie Guest the show secretary, what a wonderfully patient person.

Glad to hear the plants and tubers have been good, it's always nice, and a relief when you get good feedback.
Yes, Barbarry Delegate is mine. Lovely flower colour and has classic miniature dec form. Managed to get 8 cuttings off 3 tiny pot tubers, so hoping to get a set of five for the National on September 5th.
Sorry, the pictures a bit blurred. Great intense colour and nice strong straight stems. And this bloom was grown without covers.

Cornwall Dahlia Society mini show over the weekend. Che did well with a 1-3 card to vase ratio 1 x 1st and 2 x 2nd. The late Peter Greenaway's Josudi Andromeda and Aurora doing the business (1,2). Had to leave the show early but enjoyed the time we had and we are looking forward to the main show this saturday at Trelissick, near Truro jpg to img1st Josudi Andromeda

Ok in my opinion you could have made the vase of flowers look better. 1 the front two blooms would have looked better staged two on one. With the back bloom being more of a top sitter this will sit better at the front. these comments are meant for improvement not me being a no it all hehe all the very best for the season. 2 Foliage the exhibit would looked better with foliage even if it wasn't attached to the stem but pushed into the Oasis.

ian Thanks for the top tip re positioning, as for foliage we normally do but at CDS they dont as a general rule so after first couple of vases when we realised we were the only ones doing so we didn't bother further, and alot show with newspaper still.
