So here I am, years later, popping up like I was never gone
I am still in Somerset but now live by the beach - one road away to be precise !
In April '17 I moved to a smaller property, much smaller town, and into a much larger garden and ………… I should have done it years ago
I absolutely love it here, love my bungalow, my neighbours are even better than the ones I left, the town is quiet and peaceful, and business-wise life is busy ….. all in all, one very happy Louise
Garden-wise, I am on sand …..what an absolute joy this is to dig, sooooo much easier than that poor, thin, stoney, soil from before, I inherited a few shrubs and trees and about 80' of Equisetum, that's Mares Tail to you and I
A couple of hundred pounds worth of Resolva later it had died back, by later that summer, I anticipated 'Round 2' in the spring but have been very, very, pleasantly surprised that a) there's not much at all, and b) what is coming through is weak and spindly, I expect by this time next year to see very few babies appearing but will allways have a stock of weedkiller at hand
Of course, what doesn't help is having a neighbour that ignores it in their own garden
Pusscat-wise, I just have 1 now.
My beautiful little Mads left us 2 years ago and it broke me into a million pieces, now i'm left with Millie, who's finally calling this new home and garden 'hers', what with losing Mads, moving house, and then tradesmen traipsing in and out for a few months, she has not done well at all and at 16 years old she didn't all this going on really.
The garden is divided into different areas, a few patios, lots of seating areas, a courtyard garden (gravel and pots) and a shrubbery area at the very bottom/back - this area I have planted up now and that will be left to do its own thing.
I have no intention of becoming a slave to it, as in the past, and view it as an area to just relax in, pure and simple, - my working week is a 5 day one and every day is jam-packed, I could actually do with a 6th weekday ….. my days of working weekends are long gone so 5 mental days it is
I'm now going to sign off in favour of a gin & tonic ….. cheers
