Rhipsalis campos-portoana Last year it had lots of flowers, but this year only three
(Don't notice the ragged wall, it's going to be pulled down in a few weeks)

I have half a dozen Cacti plants in our kitchen windowsill. Today after I had cleaned the window & taken cutting from the plants that have spend all winter there I put back the Cacti & watered them a little. One plant had 2 dead columns which I cut out (very gingerly) &, using the tip of the scissors, threw in the bin. It has another 3 columns which seem to be alright.
I have no idea of the names of the Cacti as we bought them for our granddaughter a few years ago (all the fad at the time at school!. After a year or so her mum gave them to me as they weren't getting any attention. I'd never really grown any before but somehow I've managed to keep them all alive & growing well. Only one has ever had any flowers & now I think I need to put it into a larger pot. But it has some wicked thorns!!! The other all have stiff or even soft hairs.
. . . . . . . . .
The first photo is of the one I cut out 3 columns today. The one with the cerise flower is the one with the wicked thorns & the one that needs repotting.
The Cacti with yellowish/cream "flowers" are not real flowers. They were glued on the plants when we bought them. I never bothered to remove them when they came back to us thinking they would fall off on their own but they continue on the plants still - at least 4 years since we bought them for her.
The rest are more or less still like they were when I took these photos nearly a year ago! I didn't take any new photos of the plants in the windowsill today.
As the pictures are so big its impossible to get an idea of their size. The one in the red pot is still only tiny, about 3in high still!

You have quite a few different ones balc2 The ones with tubercles are types of Mammillaria and usually flower easily. The columnar ones are difficult to identify because there are so many that look similar . I hate to see those paper flowers stuck to them and sometimes they are sprayed with coloured paint too and look horrible

You are very right about the paper flowers & some being sprayed! I don't like them either! They obviously do that to try persuade people to buy them, making them more "attractive"! The Mammillaria type I'm familiar with as I had a VERY successful plant in Spain! It used to form 100s of very little "rugby ball" type "columns"(?) which later flowered with cream coloured flowers which went on to produce bright dark red seed capsules that would last for months! I must get some Cactus compost & repot them into slightly larger pots. One is in a thimble size pot & has been in it for at least 3 or 4 years now. The one that flowers has gotten very big for its pot as well & has increased quite considerably in height & width in the 2 or three years I've had it.

Eli The plant of Rhipsalis pilocarpa 'Mistletoe Cactus' you gave me is doing fine in the kitchen & now has berries. .
The branch that broke off in transit & which I put in a small pot still seems to be alright - at least it hasn't died!

The one we got is also fruiting nicely. Have you had any success germinating them?

That's great news balc2 and seaburn . The berries usually shrivel up before I get around to saving the seeds.
