My half brother who is 74 & has C.O.P.D. amongst other health issues is supposed to be getting his first vaccination this afternoon, he was getting worried, he hasn't been out at all since last October & had only been out once or twice before that. When they contacted him last week at first they wanted him to travel to a hub which he wasn't keen on but they said if he waited a few days they'd get him in locally & our local hub has now re-opened after being closed for a few weeks (they've been holding back vaccine supplies to it)so he's going there. Husband is only 62 & not been called in yet as despite having had cancer is not considered at risk as he's not on any kind of treatment & is relatively fit. I'm too young & healthy to get called yet!

sweetpea. The vaccination programme in this area is totally bonkers, a friend of mine who is 54, is not a key worker or carer & has no health issues was texted & given an appointment for hers last week, one of our neighbours who is in her 40s & perfectly healthy has been contacted to have hers, she's not sure if it's because she used to be a nurse or is considered a key worker because she works in the civil service dealing with furlough payments etc., also a couple of people in their 20s around here have been offered them, one works in a nursery so she thinks maybe that's why but the other has no idea why! I'll just stay in & keep wearing my mask until they get around to me!

Had the letter over a week ago but decided to wait for my own Dr to contact me. Hubs did the same but he heard from him the same day he got the letter. Shouldn't be too long now. Haven't seen our brood for over a year now as they all live in London and are waiting for us both to be vaccinated before plans are made to get together.....can't wait!!!!

I hope you'll be able to see your families soon jellibeans and grindle, they must be missing you terribly. I can't remember when I saw anyone or spoke to anyone except on the phone. I feel as if I'm in solitary confinement

It feels like for ever grindle, and after loosing Beryl and then being cut off from everyone else it has been more difficult. I seemed to have managed last year when I could go out to the garden and talk to people passing by, but the winter has been quite a lonely period. It's all very well speaking on the phone but as human beings we need to be with people don't we.

we certainly do, I felt the same with the first lockdown, spent all my time in the garden and it didn't worry me much at all, the winter has seemed like a long time, I've missed contact with the grandchildren, their birthdays, Christmas and as you say phones and Skype just aren't the same, just want to cuddle them all

I had my vaccination yesterday morning but had a bad reaction to it, it was the Astra-Zeneca one & in the afternoon I started shivering, vomiting & had a headache & hardly slept last night. Everyone else I know who's had it have had the Pfizer one & just had a sore arm for a couple of days - trust me to get the one with more side effects - still at least my arm isn't sore! Glad I've had it but not looking forward to the re-run when I have the second dose!

Some of my family have had Oxford Astra-Zeneca and 2 did not even have a sore arm. I had Pfizer and felt very tired and had the usual sore arm like the flu injection. My daughter-in-law in Scotland said it has a different effect on some people. She (medical) says, nothing to do with the type of vaccination. I hope you reported your reaction SueA and that all goes well at the second.

No side effects whatsoever with me - Pfizer one. Hardly even noticed it at the time and if I hadn't actually watched it being done I doubt I would have believed it.
