Don't compare yourself with anyone balc2 you have that balcony looking wonderful every year. I haven't got a balcony to wow passers-by with, most of my garden is only seen by me ... a bit of a waste really. I was answering your post & grindle 's when the laptop crashed for the 5th time yesterday. It still crashed one more time before I turned it off at 6pm!
I was trying to show some of the flowers that are blooming at this time on our balcony. I'm quite happy to garden on the balcony & I wasn't complaining about that. I was a little upset that things hadn't turned out how I expected. The Violas that should have been flowering their heads off at this time have, almost all, curled up & died on me. This is exactly what has been happing to the Pansies as well.
Last year for the first time I planted more Violas than Pansies (though being smaller plants you also need more of them!) as I like to have them for their winter flowers & they give fantastic display just as the Daffs are starting to go over & help hide their dying foliage.
It makes no difference if I used fresh compost just bought or I used compost from the previous year. They survive the winter to end up dying when they should be producing their main flush of spring flowers. So I'm left with a mostly empty balcony! Though as I always underplant my pots with bulbs, the Alliums that did so well in combination with the Violas last year on top of the balcony railings which I repeated this year, are now showing buds But it will be a full month at least before I see them in flower.

lap top crashing would be great for me balc. the hinge on mine snapped, and disrupted the screen. the only way I can use it is to show it through my projector. or borrow hubby's he's not keen for me to fill his with plant photos haha. Two days in a row (I haven't put it on today) it crashed 6 times in only a few hours! I'm on my desktop PC this evening. We have had our gkids spending time with us the last couple of days & last night they had a sleepover. The youngest, 8, likes to use my desktop PC & so I have to use the laptop if I want to go on the Internet.
I don't have a great many flower photos on the laptop as I've mainly used the desktop PC for them it is much more difficult to post on gardening forums if the photos I want to use are on it! I occasionly put some photos of my plants on the laptop & I made do it more often in the future.
I can't use my mobile for posting anything other than messages on here as I don't know how to access photos on the phone to add to forums. Besides, as you will have noticed, I like to write the file names of my photos on the photos themselves & the programme I use isn't available for use on mobile phones. (Quite apart from the fact it is no longer available as Google stopped using it years ago.)
Another problem is I've not been able to find this site on my mobile phone! I did try a week or two ago but I couldn't find it.

They're lovely grindle, I think pink is the best colour for Tulips. Shame you lost your clusianas, I'm going to plant these in the ground this year.

Eli Your flowers are really lovely! Like you I have a Skimmia which I think has flowered the best this year since I've had it, about 4 years now I think. Unfortunately it is male as there have never been any berries on it. Your Tulip clusiana look very nice! I love the colours! grindle Your white-turning-to-pink tulips are wonderful too!

SueA Everything is looking lovely! You have so many tulips & many other flowers! I only have a few small miniature Daffs left & the Grape hyacinths are coming to an end as well. The bigger Daffs have all finished as well & I don't have any tulips this year. As my Violas have all died, except for two plants in just one pot on top of the railings, I have no more flowers for a few weeks. Ah, I also have a Skimmia but with just small white flowers it's hardly visible. I have lots of Alliums with buds but they will need a few more weeks yet. It makes me feel depressed to see the balcony so bare of flowering plants & the floor covered with bird poop!

Beautiful SueA
I didn't know birds flew on to your balcony balc2 I think there's always a gap between the spring and summer flowers, my bulbs will be coming to an end soon but there's nothing to take their place.
