As there doesn't seem to be a thread dedicated to tomato growing I thought I would create one.
Though I do almost all my gardening on a balcony nevertheless I still grow a few plants of tomatoes every year. I only have room for about 9-10 plants but I've been growing them here for nearly 20 years. Over that time I've grown many varieties & this year I'm growing some 'Gardener's Delight'. Though it is the first time I've grown this variety on the balcony I have grown it before on an allotment I had. I very much like the taste of this tomato! I'm looking forward to when the tomatoes can be eaten!

I have had to put 12 plants in 3 growbags this year. I gave a couple to my son & I had a couple for a friend, but when they were big enough he told me he had enough plants of his own & couldn't take any more. I had intended to only grow 9 plants - 3 to a growbag like other years, but I found myself with 3 extra plants on my hands & no space for them to be grown elsewhere on the balcony. Not wanting to throw them away I opted for planting 4 per growbag instead!

You'll have plenty of tomatoes this year balc2 ! I also have Gardener's delight, I grow it every year. The other ones I have are Alicante, Roma, Minibell (a basket variety) and one called 'Y Ddraig Goch' which means 'The Red Dragon' and it was bread by a well known (in Wales) gardener from Anglesea. It's the first time for me to grow this and I'm waiting to see what they taste like. If they are nice I'll grow them next year again, but if not, I won't ...

I'm growing Sungold, Gardeners Delight and black cherry, also trying Maskotka which is a basket one, I've got a couple spare so will plant outside, although I don't expect miracles as we always get a lot of blight down here every year

I think you will enjoy Gardener’s Delight balc2. I miss my greenhouse but you seem to manage very well. I have bought 2 tomatoes I have not heard of, hoping they are suitable for outdoors. There wasn’t much left in 2 garden centres this week. I have grown all grindle’s choice and would grow these again in a greenhouse.

I'm growing Sungold, Gardeners Delight and black cherry, also trying Maskotka which is a basket one, I've got a couple spare so will plant outside, although I don't expect miracles as we always get a lot of blight down here every year It's not foolproof but keeping the foliage as dry as possible will go a long way to avoiding blight. You could try blight resistant ones next year as there are plenty of them around now. They maybe a little more expensive than normal ones but the few pennies extra should give you a greater expectation of obtaining a crop at least.
As I grow mine on a balcony the foliage is kept mostly dry & I don't wet the foliage. I've only ever had blight once & that was many years ago now. It was probably my fault as that year my tomatoes on the allotment were all killed off (except one 'Gardener's Delight!) & I cleared them from their beds & probably went out onto the balcony when I got home without changing my clothes. As that was the only time it has ever happened to me it seems the most likely explanation.
The plants I put in growbags a week ago look to have established themselves as they seem to be growing well. The buds are coming on fine. So I'm happy about that!

I've planted my tomatoes in big pots now so I am waiting for them to put on some growth and develop trusses.

The only thing is when I potted them on I kept forgetting to put the labels back in the new pots so I don't know which is which variety lol but I don't really mind as long as they taste all right ...

Eli Tomato plants must be one of the fastest growing plants in our gardens! Mine are at least double the height they were less than a month after I put them in the growbags! All the 12 plants have flowers but none seem to have actually set any fruit at present even though I "flick" the flowers gently most days. There don't seem to be many bees around again this year so I will have to resort to "flicking" the flowers most days. This morning I was removing the side shoots before they get big & wrapping the stems around the strings I use to support them.
