A bit of sunshine and life is beginning to show in so many plants Sophora is growing new leaves . . . . . . and there is definitely life showing in the banana I hope this thread will beat the 'winter damage' thread

I find it wierd that plants like those can survive while so called 'hardy' ones don't. Hope you're able to make some Banana butties

That Sophora isn't the same as the one I lost. I can't think of its second name - but it had an upright habit. It was most definitely dead, too! Glad yours aren't.

Both my Physocarpus are shooting right to the tips so the frost didn't affect them at all

Mine is Sophora prostrata 'Little Baby'. It is an upright plant, it was the angle I took the shot from. My Physocarpus is only a baby but is looking very healthy, lots of new leaves right to the top.

The Sophora was S. microphylla 'Sun King' - I replaced it, because I got my money back. I'm hoping the new one will produce flowers soon. Here are some of the new leaves appearing on my Ceanothus. A bit difficult to capture in a photo, but definitely there. ;D

my Sun King has lost a lot of its leaves, but it did survive and there are flower buds on the bare stems.

Mine was definitely dead - it was a new one last year, which probably explains it.

I had to show you this miracle, it is an Umbrella plant (Cyperus alternifolia) it is the scraggiest thing you are likely to see but it is alive. I had a massive one in the pond, kept a tiny bit and composted the rest, it died over winter. Grindle also gave me one in a pot which I kept in the conservatory over winter, it died too. While I was digging compost out of the bin I noticed a tiny this green shoot, it has been in the center of the compost heap all winter and it is still alive.
