hello everyone, thank you for your lovely welcomes bit about me.... im a 40 year old mad plantaholic [mad, as in everyone i know thinks im a bit batty to be always messing about with, talking incessantly about, ALWAYS buying....plants! they [apart from my family] are everything to me and are basically my life force. i know to some this may sound very paganistic but im not a hedgewitch or anything, its just that [deep breath, long story coming] i was born in yorkshire, then aged 6 we moved to derbyshire with my fathers job, and our farm cottage had a huge garden and i was allowed a plot of my own. i used to pass a house in the village on the way to school where an elderly seamstress for the 'big house' lived and her husband had the most fabulous cottage garden you have ever seen. he was known as 'old tom' and everyday being able to walk past and nosy in his garden was like being given free reign round a sweetie shop. subsequently he noticed my interest and i told him i had a 'patch' in our garden, so he started giving me cuttings and seeds and thats how it all started. he never once used a single chemical he said and he was quite proud of this [this is 1977] and i vowed i wouldnt either no matter what, especially when you could achieve the sheer health, vitality and beauty that he had. wherever i have lived i have had a garden, but unfortunately after xmas last year we lost the farmhouse and acre and a half that we rented due to the farmer wanting it back for a farmworker, so i am now in a town with a garden that is 16ft x 12ft, but needless to say it is getting packed to the rafters we have only been here eight months as we had to stay with a relative till we got another house, but i am turning it into a welcoming bower......and using climbers and willow fencing to try and muffle the noisy neighbours! LOL so you see plants wound their way into my heart from a very early age, and have never stopped. they are always there for you [mostly!] and dont talk back! thanks for all your advice - its lovely to be with so many like-minded people janey

Nowt wrong with being a "Hedgewitch" Janey Enjoy your garden....and in the words of William Robinson...."Just be good to your plot, keep it fertile, and let the flowers tell their story to the heart..." (or something like that

It's one of those things that are easy when you know how - and get the hang of it. I use 'Tinypix', but others use 'Photobucket'.
