Hello Louise, nice to see you here Mine has to be lobelia but not trailing, I find normal lobelia much more floriferous and it trails eventually anyway

I've only ever managed brown and crispy, I don't recommend that, it is not a good look

I like Bacopa, Surfinia, Verbena, Bidens, Lobelia, Diascia, Nasturtiums, and some greenery too. Nemesia is pretty, and I tried variegated Felicia last year - it went on and on.

I love trailing variegated Nepeta and also like the scented Begonias which I grew for the first time two years ago. In very hot spots I liked ivy leaved Pelargoniums. I do hang some baskets in the dog kennel in the shade nowadays. Picture the dog kennel as a gazebo with plastic coated chicken wire surrounding it and the baskets hang from the cross beams. In winter, the bird feeders hang instead.

I love hanging baskets but I never seem to get it quite right....the only successes I've had are when I've just had lots of surfinas in one. There's a small GC near here where they sell small baskets already planted up for a few pounds, saves a lot of tears and disappointment....

CPB they may be just as cheap too. As long as you enjoy your display, that is the important thing.

As our house is listed, I'm not allowed to attach baskets to it. I used to love doing them at our old home. I do have a gate trough, and a metal 'box I inherited, which is fixed onto the back of the workshop. I 'make do' with lots of pots instead.
