Three different sites are all saying differing heights for the same tree! so saying go for the GA one was my feeble attempt at a joke I'm afraid ;D

Floydie - my Magnolia stellata must be about 35 years old as it was my Auntie's before it came to live in our garden - it has been here for about 25 years

Your tree is beautiful esther. I bought a small one last year, it had one flower on this year Do you remember the poor magnolia I moved a few years ago? It was planted in between the cobbles where there was no soil The roots had pushed their way among the cobbles It has struggled for the last few years but this year it has produced one small flower

Right im taking the jump and treating myself when OH get his redundancy pay at the end of the month , I'll get the one from T&M first of (Means we need to move some of the slabs in the front), I'll then get something that will get alittle bigger to go in a pot (For now) this will go were i have put my rockery/alpine plants (Means moveing everything around maybe next years job).

Even when it's not in flower it looks good and when bare it provides a useful place for birds to feed. I hope it grows well for you. If you think you may well stay put for a number of years a small plant costing £5 would cost £50-100 in ten years, a really good investment Floydie that will reward you year after year.

We do need some shade with the garden being south facing so the top corner should suit fine . I'm sure I wont but I bet my nosy neighbor will complain that I'm blocking her view...
