Does anyone remember my little piece about that new shrub Sinocalycanthus x 'Hartlage Wine' I did on the old GN forum? Well, I'm very happy to report that it has proved it's complete hardiness and is coming into leaf and more significantly......every single new shoot has a flower bud. Thats at least thirty flowers to come in the next six-eight weeks!!!!! Then of course there is the second flush in summer to follow ;D What a shrub this is going to be! A couple of shots of mine now and a picture of the flower at the end to remind all just what the heck I'm blithering on about

This is a young plant at work just before I planted it. The flowers are really quite large when you consider that the lighter green newer leaves are at least the same or slightly larger than your average hand!

That's a beauty! Funnily enough, I'm intending to buy a Sinocalycanthus sinensis! I went to the Nursery to get it, but the owner had gone off out and was nowhere to be seen. I do hope he has some left!

Yes, one of this hybrids parents. A really nice shrub too though I must say a little more shy to flower, at least in its youth.

it is a beautiful shrub, I can remember seeing it at a GW show before they had named it and fell in love with it. Glad to hear its hardy, I'll have to start looking out for it.
