;D Yes it was very helpful Cherry, it made me think what I was buying instead of 'I want that, and I'll stick it in there' The lady at Pounsley Plants was very informative, but wasn't at all pushy, she specialises in old fashioned roses among other things It's got a lovely scent too,

I really like that and the leaves look so healthy, which is what you need to show off the rose.

Its a beauty Grindle ;D Soil comes to mind Merlin ;D ;D Well you could reserve a place for yourself No, I meant that if your soil is 'wrong' the plant will be prone to disease. Best be quite sure and put a generous amount of water retentive well rotted muck.

I think they are easy, but that there is too much misinformation surrounding them. I agree, and would say the same about clematis too. I get confused with Clematis.... I keep meaning to write the names down and keep note of when to prune them.

I had an email back from Classic Roses which states that mycorrhizal fungi is good for replanting, but good fresh soil is required and it would be good for poor soil as well. Just what we thought really.

thanks Cherry, I will plant out when the fence is done,(still waiting : so I'll have time to get some good stuff in there beforehand and I'll get some of the mycorrhizal fungi to make sure, I don't want any new ones to fail this time. Thanks Rosie ;D

Grindle, as your rose is not planted out yet, you should give it a liquid feed after the first flush of flowers and once no later than mid July - any later and new growth can be damaged by the first frosts. No I am not clever, I have just read it.

It is a lovely rose Lesley but that is a shocking memory. I hope time is helping and the rose holds his memory dear.
