its a variety called 'marechal foch' and its meant to be specifically bred for the uk climate and cooler temps, as it can go down to -15. its a red wine making variety - so i'm sorted! yes steve, i will be *reluctantly* thinning the drupes, but i alway go for quality over quantity Bluebelle, I know you will be right, but why are grapes referred to as 'drupes', when I only call stone fruit 'drupes'? I am not being rude. I need an extra lesson. my bad folks ive always called them that by habit, even though i know drupes refer to most stoned fruits.

At the car boot this morning. I’m a sucker for plants with grey foliage or purple foliage so this pelargonium sidoides was just the ticket (and only £1) I also bought a hardy spider plant, I tried to find it on the internet but failed. The leaves are more ‘lathery’ than the house plant. Lastly I found another hardy fern, she didn’t know what it was but they grow in her wall. I grows to about 30cm. It looks like a miniature bracken. At 50p I was happy to give it a go. Steve, any clues?

That's a smasher WF, never seen one like that. Hope someone will be able to name it for you. The spider plant too but I'm more interested in what it's standing on, is it Granite?

They are granite blocks, I used some to cap the top of the wall around the well. Lovely aren't they? I found lots of them buried around the garden.

Yayy! I've just ordered a new climbing rose after a lot of research. It's called 'Alibaba' and it should arrive tomorrow! It might even have a flower or two on it, but it's a repeat flowering rose, so more will appear later. I'm so excited! ;D

That is a beautiful rose Geranium with a good pedigree. The only thing which could be better, (such a tiny point because all else about it is good) is the fragrance, which is very light. The health is good and the stems look strong for carrying the blooms. It looks a great colour.

That's all good to hear, Cherry, apart from the light scent, which is a shame. However, it was mainly the colour, potential size, and the shape of the flowers I went for. Now I just need to see it to choose a clematis to 'go'with it. It's expensive getting it by mail order, but then there is no stockist near here, so I'd spend the same or more on petrol travelling across the county. I'm really looking forward to getting it!

You sound very excited about your rose Geranium ;D ;D, I planted a Zeph Drouhin at the front a couple of days ago, not very good soil so enriched it as much i could so we'll see how it goes.

Remember to allow a couple of years for the Zephirine Drouhin to decide to climb Rosie. You and everyone who sees it will love it.
