I'll ask around the local plant shops as well since forest treasures said their hoyas are out of stock, they're still propagating cuttings off the parent plants. But the plants they got in there look really nice

I was thinking of buying a cutting , but I'm wondering if it would survive in my bathroom , the bathroom may as well be outside and gets very cold this time of year (you can see your breath in there) as its basically a rubbish extension added to the side of the house . Is it worth me paying £8.99 for the cutting if its likely to die on me .

No Floydie. Don't pay that. I will send you a strip which you can root and yes it will grow in your unheated area. Mine sits in the unheated and freezing cold conservatory which must be colder as the plants do freeze there. Like mine, it will flower later. The one I am sending you is Hoya carnosa. It is gorgeous and hard to kill.

I was waiting for your reply Floydie, so will send this next time someone goes to the post office. You will be able to get a few cuttings out of the long rope of Hoya carnosa I will send, and quite a few of us have rooted cuttings from each other like this. Root them on a warm shelf before putting in the cold area.

Joysie, I am afraid I will have to appear very mean at the moment, as I have given cuttings to neighbours and flower buds have appeared on what I have left. The hoya will be stripped almost naked if I take any more.
I did root a plant for you about 18 months ago, but you did not come back on here for months.

I planted one in the ground in the conservatory and kept one in a pot in case the other does not like getting too cold. The one in the pot has grown aerial roots and is clinging to the wall so I am not sure whether to let it climb or peal it off the wall.

Well WF my Hoya would prefer the warmth, but my husband goes mad when it drapes itself everywhere. In Oxfordshire it covered a hot window so it wasn't too bad. It was then in a hanging basket. Where it is, in the cold conservatory, it still grows quite well, but flowers are later. The H. bella is in the sitting room in better conditions.

I can live with it flowering later, it has a much better chance of surviving if it is in the ground. I'm not good with plants in pots

Got myself a plant of the proper Australian Wax Flower (Hoya australis) a week a go. It's growing well and shows every sign of flowering in due course. The flowers of this species are not in the slightest bit hairy and indeed look waxy. Pure white with a touch of rose at the base of each petal.
Looking forward to this flowering as the flowers are more scented than carnosa!
