Lou, your Hoya carnosa is not very big, just a few long strands. Do you think this helps flowering? You must be cutting some growth out of it I think. Mine has turned into a mess actually and also has succumbed to mealy bug. It doesn't flower much because it is kept cold in the winter and not brought into the house. The question is should I prune some of the growth out of it? I sent a cutting to Wildlifefriendly and hers has flowers all the way down the stem, so the plant is potentially fine. My treatment is suspect.

My carnosa is actually quite a decent size...and bushy...all you can see are the two leaders I have trained up the trellis. It has never been trimmed...apart from a few pieces I sent Grindle last year The pot it is in is not huge....it probably flowers better for having its roots constricted.... My kerii stood still for ages at 2 leaves.....but is now starting to grow a third......this one is growing more quickly than the first two. but it does need to be potted on....its in a 2" pot ... I recently bought an australis....this is going to be a bit of a thug...I can tell....the plan is to put it in a smallish hanging basket and allow it to trail.....I have no more room for climbers in the conservatory.....

Thankyou very much for that info Lou. It is sitting on the outside table, so I will repot as it has used up all the soil and it is just roots in the pot. I might just take a few strands out though. It now needs a good hose down. My conservatory is full of dust and now the pollen is floating in from the hay.

The leaders are 10 ft long, so screwed up on the small table in the conservatory with just some hanging up, means that it does not get air around it. I will have to cut some out. It is obviously making leaf and not flowers.

I was waiting for your reply Floydie, so will send this next time someone goes to the post office. You will be able to get a few cuttings out of the long rope of Hoya carnosa I will send, and quite a few of us have rooted cuttings from each other like this. Root them on a warm shelf before putting in the cold area. I think i have 3 rooted cuttings now, some rotted off and I'm not sure the others have taken as yet, anyway 3 is plenty , i hope they grow well now .

That was good Floydie. I am glad it worked. I am doing a few cuttings so that Twiams gets one and there will be spares in about a month.
The mother plant looks much better now that it has been cleaned up and some long strands have been pruned out.
