;D ;D I have got to tell you ....... !!!!! I just went downstairs and as i walked into the dining room i saw a bird sitting ontop of the bird feeder 'tree'. It was a wood pidgeon and it was on the highest point - which is above the hanging feeders ! This pidgeon then swung over and forward and hung upside down with its beak inside of the hole tucking into the sunflower hearts ! It can maintain this position for about 30 seconds before falling forward into a flapping fall ! I couldn't believe my eyes, it did it 3 times !!!!!

I note that not many of you have Magpies, your welcome to mine. I no longer feed the birds anymore as they don't get a look in.

The problem here is that they have an enormous ugly nest in the tree. they take all the food we put out unless we stand over it. They are always trying to steal the Dove eggs mostly succeeding. I I could I would take great pleasure in killing them.

Ah but we do Merlin, having 2 parks and large woods within spitting distance means there's tons of 'em However, they are culled ...... it keeps their number under control. 4 years ago their numbers here were just shocking, it really was extreme and the year after that something happened and the numbers dropped over a 2 week period ....... now we never see more than 3 or 4 at a time. It certainly gives the small birds a chance to raise their young. We see a few crows and hear the buzzards but apart from that, it's all good

My trap contraption isn't working, they're too smart.

That summer i heard shotguns going off up in the woods behind here so i presumed it was that way. We hear it regularly now and the numbers are still low so i'm adding two and two ...... ! As much as i like nature to do its own thing there has to be a balance and there definately wasn't before this.

I went out today because the birds were making such a noise. I thought the Magpie was raiding nests or a falcon was in the garden but no, they had emptied all the fat ball feeders

We have magpies here. They eat disgusting waste from the dogs and rabbits which are too much for the cats. They don't bother me because there is plenty of room here for all of them.
